HELHEIMR - an except from our post- ragnarok fantasy in Danish but in 2025 it will be translated to English. 🔥on the occasion of the upcoming Halloween.
Halloween, or All Saints Day, is a day when the undead (called Draugr in Norse Mythology), are thought to walk among the living. To stay safe we must “ward” off these dangerous entities. In old Danish the word ‘vard’ is very similar to ward, and it means 'spirit'. When Viking seers began their ritual they needed the help of a ‘vardlokker’ - someone who could lure spirits by singing. This would help them achieve a state of trance, during which they could cross over and contact the undead.
In our fantasy the undead are stuck in the Shadow Valleys. In the world of Norse Theme Parks, Ragnarok was not the end of all things – it was the beginning. Level by level, our Yggdrasil Chronicles will chart the progress of two heroes, Kenna The Voelva (a Seer) and her trusty companion Eddar The Bard (our Poet!). Their mission is to defeat the Chaos Forces and revive the Tree of Life and the realms it supported - all of which fell in the devastation following Ragnarok.
Our magic-weilding, shape shifting, vision-conjuring heroes may be fictional, but they are inspired by good old-fashioned Norse Mythology and the Danes folklore.

“They drew closer to Armsvartnir - the ice-cold lake filled with melt-water from Niflheimr flowing down from the glacier. The lake drained into Slidr, the river that ran through the nine valleys of death before eventually joining the lava river, Gjall, at the entrance to the empire of the dead.
They approached the black cliff fortress with the many towers, where the Queen of the Dark Elves reigned.
The fortress lay on the banks of the lake, and the ice river served as a moat. The lake was swathed in a dense, icy fog, above which an infinite series of black hills stretched to the north, as far as the eye could see. These were the nine Shadow Valleys, which all dead things must brave before entering Helheimr, where their fate in the next world would be decided.
But the valleys were filled with undead things who could not move on to the afterlife, as the Gjallar Bridge - which should have led the undead from the shadow valleys and across to Helheimr - had been destroyed by Ragnarok. Only a few had made it across.
Eddar pointed to a column of steam expanding all the way out to the horizon. This was where ice-cold Slidr and boiling Gjal merged and dropped into Helheimr.
This was where the golden Gjallarbro had stood!”
