The Amphi Coffee Table is the outcome of an intensive and playful design process involving form studies, graphic drawings, scale prototypes, and full-scale 1:1 models – resulting in a finely balanced dialogue between shape and material.

We proudly present the Amphi Coffee Table, a sculptural expression of Danish design crafted in Italy. Drawing inspiration from ancient Greek and Roman theaters, the table reflects a timeless dialogue between architecture and contemporary design.

Design Philosophy: Balancing Art and Design / A study in geometry and proportion

The Amphi Coffee Table is a meticulous study of material, scale, and relational balance, inspired by the mathematical elegance of the Fibonacci Sequence and the Golden Ratio. Rooted in classical materials, the table features tempered glass, solid brass, and not least Travertine stone echoing the architectural grandeur of amphitheaters dating back to 80 BCE and earlier Greek theaters from the 6th century BCE.

Paying homage to the mesmerizing architecture, enduring geometry and proportion of ancient Greek and Roman theaters, the table captures the essence of history through a modern lens. As founders Jasper Overgaard and Christian Dyrman explain, "Looking back – moving forward," the piece embodies the fundamental balance between sculptural art and functional design, emphasizing honesty, authenticity, and exploration of geometric form and proportion.

How about an extraordinary private dinner, seated on Wire Dining Chairs, right next to the chefs’ playground at the French restaurant 1929 by Guillaume Galliot in Shanghai?
Or perhaps a drink at the bar, sitting on Wire Bar Stools?

Huge thanks to Alexander Moh for making this a reality!
