Hailing from Switzerland, collaborators Fabrice Noir, the architect of the illustrious Cabaret Bizarre—an event that stands as a nocturnal beacon of European dark cabaret, and the distinguished DJ Blake, famed for his “Cloak and Dagger” soirées, converged in the year 2020 to birth the project A Sinister Light. Imbued with a contrasting array of sounds, including the dark allure of darkwave, the mechanical heart of industrial, the mournful soul of post-punk, and the rhythmic pulse of techno, A Sinister Light ventures into bleak, dystopian tales steeped in existential despair and nihilistic musing, traversing metaphysical landscapes. „Illegal Truth” is a song about the dark times we find ourselves living in where truth is obliterated by power and it gets more and more difficult every day just to do the right thing.

The imagery within the track vividly portrays the repercussions faced by those who challenge the status quo, with graphic descriptions like “teeth in red puddles” symbolizing the brutality and bloodshed endured by truth-seekers. The mention of “add a billion more” implies a widespread escalation of violence, underscoring the dire consequences of dissent.

The track brews obscure minimal synth iciness with undercurrents of clattering and menacing EBM and Industrial propulsive energy, slowly shifting, over time, from the stuttering mechanical urgency injected by hypnotic strobing bass line oscillations, droning expansive synth reflections, and steady punchy snare beats into oppressive frequencies around cold, agitated, disillusioned vocals and distorted back-ups, then breaks for a chaotic effect-laden cybernetic interlude of erratic icy bright melodies and sinister skewed stabs, whilst a heavy layer of ominous fog horn blows seep in.

“Illegal Truth” is a powerful and evocative piece of music that not only explores important themes of truth and justice but also serves as a poignant call for resistance and perseverance in the face of oppressive regimes.

Themes of truth, oppression, and resistance can be found in the Official Video that shapeshifts signs of the times AI imagery with original and found footage of evil historical manifestations and dark occult suggestions to sync with the dangerous societal warning of the soundtrack. Imaginative and disturbing, a dystopic flow of all-seeing eyes reveals a mass digital surveillance system hiding in plain sight over a subterranean bone church in Kutná Hora, created long ago by an ancient death cult. A Sinister Light observes and relays a message about the pandemonium on the streets, serving as a distraction from a more wicked plan of a hedonistic virtual reality, unravelling behind the scenes.
