There’s a first time for everything!
Dental and medical equipment take a beating due to the frequent sanitizing. They require specially treated materials. I was able to source an exact match for this chair, so that it still blends with the rest of the office at Harbourview Dental.
Now, I wish all the furniture I worked on came with its own light and the perfect height adjustment for assembly.

It seems I forgot to take a before picture, but as you can see from the frame, it was a little worse for wear. I fixed the broken bits, and added some mending plates to shore it up where the factory staples had broken. I also replaced the foam before I reupholstered the whole works.
Hide-a-bed frames are a bit of a challenge. The upholstery itself is easier, because there’s nothing in the way, but wrestling that bed frame back into a finished project without damaging it can be a little nerve wracking.

My client stood on the corner of the sofa to hang a picture, something we’re all guilty of from time to time. The corner completely shattered, and the seller denied warranty. Not naming any names, but you certainly don’t buy fancy things there.
This isn’t intended to shame anyone (except the store and manufacturer). We all get what we can afford. We all deserve to have nice things. It is meant to educate though. You’re almost always better off finding a classic on marketplace, or leaning into the funkiness of that couch granny gave you than buying modern mass produced furnishings.
Upholstery isn’t cheap, but I guarantee you, refurbishing a vintage frame will outlast 2 or 3 cheap modern pieces easily.
