Sometimes I get a great story along with a request for one of my creations. Thank you Megan Taylor who ordered an Apple Wood Bowl that evoked memories of the Apple & Cherry orchard on her grandparent’s farm. She gifted the bowl to her parents in Kelowna and it should arrive within a week. The beauty of this handcrafted piece can now be shared as a family heirloom. Just off the lathe a medium sized “ring” bowl! This stunning piece of ambrosia maple is 7” wide 3” deep. (Ambrosia maple is not a distinct species. It describes a highly sought-after, character-rich figure found in soft maple (such as red or silver maple). The unique streaks and "wormholes" are caused by the ambrosia beetle boring into the tree and introducing a cosmetic fungus.) Would you like this on your bedstand to place your jewelry in at night?
