: Fabrics Edition ✨  Today we’re stepping outside the cabinetry a little and talking about something that ties everything together: Fabrics!

Think stools, blinds, couches, bedding… all the layers that make a house feel like home. If you’ve been anywhere near Pinterest lately, you already know, stripes are having a moment. And NOT just your basic, straight lines.

We’re seeing:

• classic clean stripes
• soft, squiggly stripes
• dotted + textured variations
• even plaids making their way back into the mix

It’s one of those patterns that feels timeless, but still fresh depending on how you use it. The other big shift? Natural fabrics.

Linen, cotton - materials that have literally stood the test of time. They bring that warm, relaxed, effortless feel into a space without looking too polished or overdone. It’s that understated, lived-in look people are really leaning into right now.

And honestly… when you pair these softer elements with strong cabinetry and finishes? That’s when a space really starts to feel complete.

If you’re planning a renovation or just trying to pull your space together and don’t know where to start - I’d love to help.

: Countertop Edition ✨ Welcome back to the series! if you’ve been following along, we’ve talked cabinetry and hardware… so it only makes sense we get into one of the biggest decisions in your kitchen: countertops 👀

For years, quartz (man-made surfaces) dominated and for good reason. They’re durable, low-maintenance, and easy to live with. And yes… they’re still a go-to.

But lately? I’m seeing a strong shift back to natural stone. Think quartzite, granite, marble - materials pulled straight from the earth, full of movement, depth, and character you just can’t replicate. Every slab is different, and that uniqueness is exactly what clients are falling back in love with.

Now here’s the truth: There’s no “better” option. There’s just what’s better for YOU.

Some clients want easy, consistent, worry-free. Others want bold, natural, one-of-a-kind. That’s where I come in!

Countertops are something you use every single day, so choosing the right one isn’t just about looks, it’s about how you live in your space.

If you’re planning a kitchen renovation (or even just exploring your options), let’s talk. I’d love to help you find the perfect fit for you and your family.

Welcome to our new series: Ask Markie a Question ✨🏡 If you’ve ever wondered anything about renovations, kitchens, cabinetry, or the design process … this is your sign to ask away.

One of the first questions I got asked was:

“Is renovating a kitchen important if I’m selling my home?”
Short answer? Yes.

Your kitchen is one of the most used spaces in your home. It’s where people gather, cook, snack, celebrate, and honestly … it really is the heart of the home. And while some buyers may think they’ll renovate after moving in, the reality is not everyone wants to take on a renovation project. A beautifully updated kitchen gives buyers peace of mind knowing one of the biggest and most expensive renovations is already done for them. It instantly makes a home feel more move-in ready, and that matters.

An updated kitchen can help buyers walk into a space and say: “This feels easy. This feels done. This feels like home.”

So yes, kitchens matter. A lot.

Now I want to hear from YOU. Drop your renovation, cabinetry, or kitchen questions below or send us a message.

We’re keeping track of every single one and I’ll be answering them throughout this series 💭✨

Does a kitchen renovation keep living rent free in your mind? 👀 You walk into your house, look around, and think: “Ugh… I hate this space.” But then the next thoughts come:

“Where do I even start?”
“Can my budget even match my vision?”
“What does this all actually cost?”

That’s exactly why we created our Initial Consultation process at Timber + Plumb. This is the first step for every single client we work with because we believe everyone deserves the same thoughtful, hands-on experience from the very beginning.

Here’s how it works:

1. We meet in your home
2. We take measurements
3. We talk through your wish list, needs, wants, likes, dislikes, budget + lifestyle
4. Then you come into our showroom for your personalized design presentation

This is where things start to feel REAL. You’ll see floor plans, elevations, colour renderings, cabinetry concepts, and possibilities for your space you may have never even thought of before. You’ll also leave with a detailed quote so you can truly understand what’s possible for your home and budget.

And honestly? Sometimes the hardest part of renovating is just starting.

Booking a consultation doesn’t mean you need to renovate tomorrow. It simply gives you clarity, direction, and an understanding of one of the biggest investments you’ll make in your home.

If you’ve been overwhelmed trying to piece together Pinterest boards, trends, layouts, contractors, storage ideas, and pricing on your own… this process was made for you.

If you’re ready to start the conversation, reach out to Candyce at: [email protected]

We’d love to help bring your dream kitchen to life.

: Hardware Edition ✨ We’re back and if you caught the last one, you know we talked wood tones making a big move in kitchens for 2026. This ties right into that… because what you pair with your cabinetry matters just as much 👀

Let’s talk hardware, lighting + plumbing fixtures, aka the finishing touches that make or break a space.

Right now, we’re seeing a major shift toward warm metals. Think brass, brushed bronze, anything in that rich gold/yellow family. It’s warm, elevated, and pairs beautifully with those deeper wood tones we talked about.

But the real standout? Unlacquered brass. It starts polished and golden… and over time develops a natural patina from touch and environment, aging into something completely unique. It’s not for everyone (especially if you love a perfectly uniform look), but it is timeless, lived-in, and seriously stunning.

On the flip side, polished finishes are making a comeback. Yes… chrome. And before you write it off, hear me out. In bathrooms especially, chrome brings that clean, crisp, spa-like feel that never really goes out of style. Classic for a reason.

Moral of the story? Trends come and go but the right finish should feel like you.

If you’re planning a renovation, updating your kitchen, or even just swapping out hardware, this is where the magic happens ✨

And if you want someone who lives and breathes this stuff… you know where to find me.

8 years of Timber + Plumb 🥂 I started this business when I was 25 years old with a dream, a lot of determination, and honestly no idea how much this journey would change me.

Over the last 8 years, Timber + Plumb has become so much more than a business to me. It became a huge part of who I am. It gave me purpose, confidence, friendships, opportunities, challenges, lessons, and a community I’m endlessly grateful for.

There have been so many moments that felt surreal, opening our showroom, designing spaces I’m incredibly proud of, hosting events, mentoring other entrepreneurs, collaborating with amazing people, winning awards, and watching this little idea slowly grow into something real.

But alongside all of the exciting moments came the hard ones too. The late nights, the stress, the fear of failing, the moments where I questioned myself completely, and the days I had to keep showing up even when I felt exhausted behind the scenes.

Entrepreneurship is such a strange thing because people often only see the finished projects, the beautiful photos, and the wins. What they don’t always see are the sacrifices, the risks, and the amount of work it takes to keep things moving forward every single day.

Owning a business has pushed me in every possible way, but it has also given me experiences I never imagined for myself. I’ve met incredible people, built lifelong friendships, supported causes I care deeply about, and created a career that genuinely feels aligned with who I am.

To every client who trusted me, every person who supported me, shared my work, attended an event, collaborated with me, or followed along on this journey, thank you. Timber + Plumb would not exist without you.

And honestly, thank you to myself too. For continuing to show up, taking risks, staying creative, learning as I went, and believing in something bigger even when it felt scary.

I’m so proud of what Timber + Plumb has become and so excited for what’s still ahead.

Cheers to the next 8 years 🥂

8 years of Timber + Plumb. 🤍

I started this business when I was 25 years old. Eight years later, I’ve learned that business ownership can be one of the most rewarding and most challenging - journeys you’ll ever take. It has tested me, shaped me, humbled me, and pushed me in ways I never expected. Some days feel incredible, some days feel heavy, and no two days are ever the same.

But through all of it, there are lessons that continue to stick with me. So to celebrate 8 years, here are 8 things I’ve learned along the way:

1. Not every person you meet is your client.
Not everyone will fit your vision, and that’s okay. Focus on attracting the people who align with you, your values, and your business.

2. You can’t control everything, but you can control how you react.
Things will go wrong. Projects will get stressful. Staying grounded and positive matters more than trying to control every outcome.

3. Being early is better than being on time.
Showing up early shows respect for other people’s time, and yours too. It’s a small thing that says a lot.

4. Delegate what you don’t enjoy or aren’t great at.
You do not have to do everything yourself. One of the best things I ever did was outsource the things that drain me so I could focus on what I love and do best.

5. Networking is an underrated superpower.
Getting yourself in front of the right people can completely change your business. Relationships matter more than people realize.

6.Find people who understand the realities of business ownership.
There’s something powerful about having a community of people who truly “get it.” The highs, the stress, the sacrifices, the excitement.

7. Celebrate the wins, even the small ones.
Not every celebration has to be huge. Sometimes finishing a difficult task is enough reason to pause and be proud of yourself.

8. A positive mindset changes everything.
Business ownership is a roller coaster. Staying positive won’t make every challenge disappear, but it makes the journey a lot more enjoyable.

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post as we continue celebrating 8 years of Timber + Plumb. ✨

If there was one thing I would recommend to anyone planning a kitchen renovation with or without a designer, it would be to make sure you include lots of drawers in your kitchen👌🏻

Drawers are one of the most simplistic but useful ways you could improve your kitchen “flow”.
Often when people say they hate their current kitchen set-up it usually correlates to A) It’s not big enough and B) not having great access to their storage… which usually means more drawers would be greatly appreciated 😇

Anyways, all of this to say is if you hate your kitchen and you are looking to transform this space in your home send me a note.
I can help remodel that room into the most loved thing in your life (besides family & friends of course haha 🫶🏻).
