After another couple of months of organising, getting rid of tools and some final cleaning, I have finally been able to work on some bigger projects. I was commissioned this past fall for a large gate with some lampposts. Surprisingly they didn't take anywhere near as long as I thought, but there are still a few things that need to be done before I can install them in the spring.

After another month of hard work, planning, building, and reorganizing, Thor's Stone Forge is ready to start offering basic blacksmithing lessons. The courses will be offered in one or two day lengths and will delve into some of the basics of this age old art. Each student will be allowed to take home what they make as well as the knowledge of forging, hand and power tool use, as well as basic metallurgy. Anyone interested in one of these weekend courses should contact me for further information.
As well, my friend Brad, from Black Maple Blades, also out of Wiarton, has begun offering two day bladesmithing courses. You can find his page on Facebook for contact info.

After the past year and a half of having to slow down significantly because of the pandemic and personal reasons, Thor's Stone Forge has acquired a new shop to call home. We are now located near Wiarton, ON! With this new shop we are able to focus on metalworking, woodworking, leather-craft, photography, and art. This is a huge leap forward for us as we enter a new stage in the life of Thor's Stone Forge. With loads of help from friends and family we are looking at opening up weekend lessons starting in August for basic Blacksmithing techniques with basic woodworking courses hopefully starting in the fall. They are currently being offered in one or two day options. Contact us to find available dates for courses and to book your lesson.

So I started this project for a friend just over two years ago now. There was a lot of change in the shop and testing new things out that hindered the making of this sword, but even then it just goes to show how much time and effort it takes to make a blade. I won't be taking on any more requests for knives (other than what I already have) in the near future because of this. If you would like a knife, check out some of my friends who actually specialize in knives.
