The Plaid Dresser

This little curbside side find looked rough to start but had good bones, solid wood construction, and lots of life left. It just needed some minor repairs and lots of beautifying!

Three rolls of wide painter’s tape took this crusty white dresser and turned it into something that looks like it came out of a painting 😍

Though it would be so darling for a child’s room or nursery, it’s not too small that it couldn’t be used in any room… And it’s a piece like this wants to be seen… perhaps at the front door - filled with mittens and scarves!🧣

The Stripped Striped Dresser

This solid maple wood dresser was stunningly bright after sanding off all its original orange finish… but the stains left by the old hardware meant I couldn’t just leave her naked 🍑🤭

I wanted to show off as much of the bare wood as possible and have been wanting to try stripes for a while so this was a perfect opportunity. Call these stripes “censor bars” if you will… but I think they add more than they take away from this piece! And the new antique brass k***s and pulls keep this bold dresser grounded.

This solid oak dinette was found separately, (table from chairs) but they look to be truly made for each other 💕

Sanded bare, white washed, and abundantly clear coated , for a raw-wood look with plenty of durability.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - wheels on furniture are like pockets in dresses… they just make sense! And these industrial wheels have locks to stay put👌.

Perfect for a new cottage, small home, or just a pair of love birds! It’s of course big enough to pull up a couple extra chairs to comfortably seat four adults.

Roadside Emporium

This roadside find was giving major OG ‘Wicker Emporium’ vibes (and having a home full of wicker emporium furniture.. I have a sixth sense for these things)!

The varnish on this media console was old, gooey, and just plain gross. Several sanding discs were used to get this piece down to raw (mango?) wood. It has been sealed in a clear water-based topcoat to let the grain and natural tones of the wood be the stars of show! … Oh and of course a pop of ‘hey you!’ with these funky new drawer pulls! ✨

La Joie des Fleurs

This beauty is the epitome of femininity, and a piece of truely functional art 🤍

Not only is it a joy to admire, but provides three roomy drawers made with dovetail joinery (that all slide smoothly), a sweet little shelf, and it’s original beveled glass mirror with all its patina - earned over many years!

This vanity dresser is made of solid wood (oak I believe) and made to last many lifetimes over.

She was encrusted in thick layers of paint that would have taken me a lifetime to completely remove… so I stripped and sanded it as much as I could, then opted to do away with the crusty wooden appliqués on the mirror top, and replace them with “carved wood” flowers - which are not wood at all… but made to look as if they might be;) And those flowers grew and bloomed all over the dresser!

She has been painted in my favourite ‘super white’ by , the top was done with a brown paint wash, and of course everything was sealed for lasting protection. And to top it all off… a little sparkle by way of new glass k***s ✨

The Elegant Desk

What was once dark and dinged-up is now bright and beautiful! There are no markings on this desk to research it, (I believe it’s maple) but it’s certainly solid hard wood nonetheless.

This lovely desk had good bones to work with and mostly only needed an aesthetic upgrade. She’s been painted in “Elegant” by , and the drawer fronts have been paint-washed with the same hue for a soft look with some ✨ new k***s! And of course everything has been thoroughly sealed for protection, as well as waxed drawers that slide like butter!

The Occasional Table

Hall/entryway/sofa/console table, or perhaps a coffee bar?… A simple versatile piece of furniture, painted in ‘Pure White’ and a ‘Coffee’ coloured Minwax stain for a classic, but non-orange, vibe!

The beautifully veneered top is what really pops out, but for me it’s the gently distressed details on the base that give this simple table a little extra something! 🤍

The Afrormosia Table

This Canadian-made solid Afrormosia wood (aka ‘African Teak’) coffee table was designed by Dutch-born Jan Kuypers for Imperial Furniture in the early 1950s.

This table is the embodiment of mid-century modern furniture, simple design with clean lines, made of durable solid wood.

Time had worn on the finish of this table, and a clean split through the centre of the table was present at purchase. But Afrormosia is comparable to teak wood in its durability, and therefore a sanding and refinishing with Tung ‘N Teak oil easily brought the wood back to life, along with a repaired split that is almost invisible.

*Sold* The Skull Drawers

I found this little dresser in literal pieces amidst a neighbour’s garage clean-out. Though it was destined for the dump… the homeowner was gracious enough to let me rummage through his pile of stuff to find all its parts!

Under the old paint was beautiful solid wood, and aside from wood glue and clamps to put all the pieces together again, as well as brand new drawer bottoms… the bones of this dresser were in great shape.

After much sanding and reassembly, it was primed, painted, and top-coated, and drawers given a fresh coat of wax. To top it off, brand new k***s were added… which are perfectly incongruous with this darling dresser🤭

This piece was truly brought back from the dead! 💀

Would it be too on-point to use this as a media console for your T.V.?… I think not!

I envision a small tv perched inside and a couple kids sprawled out on the floor playing videos games over summer-break.

Or perhaps used as an over-sized end table filled with piles of quilts and blankets for those rainy-day movie binges. 📺 🍿

And it’s all set up for your Google Home or Alexa if you’re in the mood for some tunes! (Holes for more cords can be added at the buyers request at no additional expense)

It’s a unique and funky piece with a grounded colour palate … a painted faux-wood exterior with a crisp white interior… this old T.V. will certainly be a conversation starter!

Oh and the cherry on top… it has wheels!
