It's been kind of a crummy week, but getting this joint (mostly) finished up really helps it be a little less crummy.

I'll try to get the edge detail done this afternoon, and then a trip to the store for some hardware and other supplies - Hopefully this table will be available for sale within the next few weeks!

Finally got around to organizing the workbench, it almost looks like I could work in here now! This shop has been a bit of a flex space over the last few months, but I think that today I finally got all of the stuff in here for temporary storage to its permanent spot.

It's actually nice enough to have the doors open in the shop!
I was actually supposed to be cleaning today but decided instead to keep working on this table base that's been trapped in the basement for a few months now. I brought it down to glue up in the warmth, and it's finally nice enough to continue on with it!
Way more enjoyable than sweeping and organizing tools. Although I really should get on that - we've been here almost a year now, and I'm still storing most of my hand tools in one of three carboard boxes.

It's March, and it's warm-ish, but cool-ish today. There are crocuses in my garden which appear to be on the cusp of defeat. It's the last day of March break for some. Pandemic restrictions are supposed to lift here next week. I can probably count the number of days left working in this tiny little shop without taking off my shoes. There is melancholy. And maybe I'm making meaning out of nothing, but I can't help but be intrigued that on a day where it is so present in my mind that the goods and the bads to things are totally inseparable, that my project happens to be making opposites fit together.
Roasted Red Oak and cleaved marble, will eventually become the top to a new Sticks & Stones table.

Finished up and delivered this table the other day, really pleased with the end result. It was certainly a lot of work, and demanded a lot of my limited brainspace, but I'm so honoured to have been a part of such a cool and unique project. Super excited to have done it, and also to be done with it, if you catch my drift! An awesome client of mine asked me to design and build a table based off of a video and a photo of a similar design.

I really love how reminiscent this table is of some vintage camping gear buried in memories of Scout camp. Rucksacks with lots of brass buckles and hiding places. Not that it was an active source of inspiration for this design, but it's definitely something that I see here, and something that I'm going to try to keep in mind for my next studio builds.
