Matching the lovely armchair we also posted, this solid maple rocker is another from The Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University. Not only beautiful, but also a present day example of something that will become a piece of important history as it ages. These chairs are over $1000.00 new, by virtue of the quality craftsmanship and the esteemed history that they represent. Made by M. LaHart & Co.

Dedicated as a piece of celebration on behalf of the Tristan Rhodes Scholarship Fund for LGBT students at The Peabody Institute at John Hopkins University in 2010. Tristan (Keith William Rhodes as he was known then) was a graduate of the Peabody in Princeton, the music school of Johns Hopkins University. It was at Peabody where he received the nickname Tristan.
Later he studied with Herbert von Karajan at the Akademie des Mozarteum in Salzburg, earning a diploma in conducting. In Victoria he was the organist and choir director at St. John the Divine and at Saints Peter and Paul in Esquimalt- and even more importantly met his husband.

This solid maple captain's chair is not only beautiful, but also a present day example of something that will become a piece of important history as it ages. These chairs are over $1000.00 new, by virtue of the quality craftsmanship and the esteemed history that they represent. Made by M. LaHart & Co.

We are both honoured and excited to have this chair in the shop.
