As this year comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on the lessons I’ve learned that didn’t come from a textbook, but from experience, high-level conversations, and a bit of "muscle memory."

Here is what 2025 taught me:

1. Communication is a skill, not a trait. I’ve spent a lot of time this year learning from experts via podcasts and it’s changed how I view connection. Learning to communicate better isn't just about speaking and listening; it’s about the intention behind the words. I’m more motivated than ever to keep growing here.

2. Getting back into the weight room (my spare bedroom!) was a revelation. It’s incredible how quickly the body responds when you give it the right stimulus. After only a few sessions, that strength started returning—a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to start again.

3. Learning how to deal with the menopause stage has been a lesson in patience and self-advocacy. It’s a transition that required a shift in how I view health and activity, but I’ve learned that staying active isn't just a choice—it’s a necessity for this stage of life.

4. I’ve finally become okay with not being overwhelmed. This year I prioritized work-life balance and true time for myself. I’ve leaned on life lessons from those further down the path than me, and they all say the same thing: Spend more time with the people you love.

5. Being at full capacity doesn’t equal success, status or self-worth. Sometimes slowing down allows you to focus on what is important in life.

The Takeaway? Activity is important, but so is the silence required to appreciate it. Here’s to carrying these lessons into a focused and balanced 2026.
