Nordic Okanagan Escape.
When Brittany Browne of Kelowna-based design studio Browne Interiors reached out to Portside Interiors to help furnish this beautiful Okanagan project, the vision was immediately clear — calm, understated, and deeply connected to the surrounding landscape.
This basement retreat is rooted in natural materials, earth tones, and a quiet sense of warmth. Solid wood is celebrated throughout, allowing natural grain and texture to bring depth, craftsmanship, and authenticity into the space. Layered textiles, soft lighting, and thoughtful materiality create an atmosphere that feels both refined and deeply comfortable.
The layout was intentionally kept open and airy while still feeling intimate and inviting. Integrated storage within the coffee table helps maintain a sense of calm, while carefully curated decor keeps the focus on simplicity and function.
One of our favourite details is the custom bar table positioned behind the sofa, paired with adjustable swivel stools to create a relaxed social space for entertaining and gathering.
As evening settles in, the minimalist floor lamp casts a warm ambient glow — transforming the room into a quiet retreat designed for slowing down, connecting, and unwinding with family and friends.
