When Kaitlyn and Nelson dreamed of raising their children in a safe and stable home, they never imagined how quickly that dream would feel out of reach.
For years, they worked toward a brighter future. Then, the pandemic sent housing costs soaring, and with a second baby on the way, finding a suitable home for their growing family started to feel impossible.
"We kind of lost hope," Kaitlyn admits, remembering those difficult months.
That's when Habitat for Humanity gave them what they needed most: a home.
Today, their son plays in his own backyard and is thriving at school. Their daughter took her very first steps at home. With a quiet place to study, Kaitlyn earned a professional designation that has opened new career paths. And for the first time, their family can plan for the future with confidence.
As Nelson says, "My children won't have to have the same pressure on life that I had. Now they can focus on school and actually be children."
That's what a safe, affordable home makes possible.
