Yesterday I posted about the School of Bauhaus, and its third and final schoolmaster, Lugwig Meis van der Rohe. Here is a new graphic novel about his life and influential architecture. Unfortunately the comic book is in Spanish, but the article about it is in English. Enjoy.

Spanish illustrator and writer Agustín Ferrer Casas has created a graphic novel about Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, with a prologue written by Norman Foster.

The central staircase at Chateau-sur-Mer, Newport, Rhode Island. This part of Richard Morris Hunt's redesign of the house in the 1870s, features a painting on plaster of a Tree of Life, extending up three flights of the staircase soffit, culminating in a bird-filled sky. The wallcovering is jute painted to look like tapestry, and the light fixtures flanking the stairs are bronze figures of maidens reflecting the 19th century interest in Japanese art. Chateau-sur-Mer is open for guided tours daily.
