Livas Heirlooms

Livas Heirlooms Toronto-based Tony Livas designs and builds fine cabinetry and furniture and teaches at Humber Colle

At Livas Heirlooms, we take pride in providing one-of-a-kind designs of fine furniture, fully customized to your needs, using solid wood and traditional joinery. All of our pieces are destined to become tomorrow's heirlooms, cherished by their inheritors. From finest furniture, using domestic and imported hardwood, to all of your cabinetry needs, including kitchens, bathrooms, closet organization

and built-in media units, our custom designs strike a careful balance of function and form. Based in Toronto, Canada, Tony Livas is a designer and builder of fine heirloom and studio furniture. An artist in mixed media: metal, stone, wood and fibre, he has channeled his creativity to making furniture that is a re-dedication to quality, artisanship and a masterful balance of function and form. Disheartened by the ubiquity of mass-produced “disposable” furniture, he has worked passionately to inspire the furniture buyer to regard their investment as a reflection of their individuality, personality and artistic expression. Tony designs and builds to the customer’s specifications and choice of style. Traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, dovetails and box joints are employed as time-tested methods of construction, ensuring that the piece will last for generations.

was designed for this small space. The luxury of a dishwasher was at first considered impossible due to the configuration requirements, but with some creative cabinetry construction, we were able to pull it off. This is the benefit that true customization provides. Many kitchen companies, including that mega corporation that cannot speak its name (okay, it starts with I and ends with A, and rhymes with bad IDEA) offer cabinets in incremental sizes of two inches in width. True customization means that cabinets can be built to 1/32" tolerances, making use of every square inch of valuable space.

It was a dark and stormy night. Winds blew, and torrents of rain drove a tree to its breaking point.

Literally. Because it fell. Its trunk was massive, this maple, and certainly possessed the wisdom of a hundred-plus years--from seedling to young lanky teen, to stoic sage.

From the unfortunate demise of this majestic tree comes an opportunity to make something beautiful and useful. An object that will continue to live on for another hundred years at least, something we can use every day to remind us of nature's wonderful gifts.

The owner of this dining table is lucky indeed!

LH designed and built this for a client who wanted a timeless yet stylish and fully functional kitchen. Every square inch of storage space was taken advantage of, using hardware such as pull out pantries, blind corner solutions, spice/oil slide outs and a large pot/pan garage. There's even a cupboard with a mixer lift, that swings up when making bread/food processing, then back in its space when done. A bank of display cabinetry with interior lighting allows for showcasing fine china and crystal dinnerware.

in quartersawn white oak. Quartersawn just means that the wood is cut from the log in a way that reveals straighter grain lines, making for a more uniform appearance. The stain is chestnut, and the interior is finished using natural amber shellac.

is made with solid Honduran mahogany and curly cherry with ebony accents. I designed this as a cabinet to store coffee and tea, sugar, a teapot, etc. and does so with style and artistic flair. The handmade door pulls are like a drop of water that radiates ripples in a still pond. This item is for sale, inquire if interested.
