Imagineering Institute Malaysia 2014-2019 - end of an era. A world-class research lab with a startup business incubator. Developed from a chance meeting at Davos between Tan Sri Dato' Azman Mokhtar and renowned research scientist Adrian David Cheok. What a great time we had in the middle of nowhere, a Utopia and a Dystopia, an experiment which successfully progressed ideas on digital taste and smell, artificial intelligence, AR, VR and other forms of mixed reality, a community which created both local and international friendships from Iskandar to Ipoh to Penang to Serbia to Finland to Canada, and the birth of real (and nascent) companies such as VRgini, Gargeon, FoodPlus, Protenga, Sustowns and Wekanta. We salute everyone who was a part of that happening and look forward to hearing about their continuing paths of innovation.
