There’s something about reading Rising Strong a second time that hits differently. I don’t just understand it, I recognize myself in it.

MANIFESTO OF THE BRAVE AND BROKENHEARTED

There is no greater threat to the critics and cynics and fearmongers than those of us who are willing to fall because we have learned how to rise.

With skinned knees and bruised hearts; We choose owning our stories of struggle, over hiding, over hustling, over pretending.

When we deny our stories, they define us.

When we run from struggle, we are never free. So we turn toward truth and look it in the eye.

We will not be characters in our stories. Not villains, not victims, not even heroes.

We are the authors of our lives. We write our own daring endings.

We craft love from heartbreak, Compassion from shame, Grace from disappointment, Courage from failure.

Showing up is our power.
Story is our way home. Truth is our song. We are the brave and brokenhearted.

We are rising strong.

I have always liked before and after photos.
They can tell so many stories. Today I chose two.
Two very different chapters of my life.
One before cancer. One after.
Years apart… and yet the same laughter, the same spark.
Life changed. My body changed. My perspective changed. But the spark inside me did not.

That spark is resilience. It is the quiet decision to keep living, loving, creating, and laughing even when life tries to shake you.
Resilience is not about pretending life is easy.
It is about protecting the light inside you when things get hard.
Not everyone discovers that spark within themselves.
But if you are fortunate enough to find it, you realize that this little spark is stronger than your biggest fear.

On International Women’s Day, I celebrate every woman who keeps her light alive through challenges and uncertainty.
To every woman who keeps rising, healing, creating, loving, and laughing.
To every woman who has faced fear, loss, illness, or change and still chooses to shine ✨

Embrace and protect your spark, ladies.
Not everyone has it.

The highlight of 2025 for our family was the start of a new business.

In July 2025, my husband and I decided that we clearly hadn’t done enough hard things so far, and voilà, L & V Automotive was born.

L is for Laz and V is for Vassi. We share this business 50/50, just like everything else in our lives for the past 35 years.
He is the mechanic. He works with his hands.
I take care of customer service. I serve with my heart.

We are beyond grateful for every client who trusted us and showed us that we made the right decision by diving into the unknown just a few months ago.

We welcomed 2026 yesterday with our Vasilopita.
If you don’t know, Vasilopita is a New Year’s bread or cake in Greece and many parts of Eastern Europe and the Balkans, containing a hidden coin that brings good luck to the person who finds it.

And guess what? The coin chose both of us. This quiet promise of luck and blessings rested between Laz’s piece and mine.
50/50 — even for the Vasilopita! 🤣🤣🤣

So thank you, 2026. We will graciously receive all the gifts you bring with open hands and open hearts. 🙏🎁💫

May this year be kind, guided, protected, and abundant for all of us 🙏 🪽

And remember:
“Never fear to deliberately walk through dark places, for that is how we reach the light on the other side.” 💫 Happy New Year, everyone!

Love always
Vassi 💕

This is the view through my kitchen patio door. Seeing this bold colour every morning makes me so happy.
The tree belongs to my neighbor, but I am lucky enough to share its beauty.

So done with the pink 😁 Welcome, November! 🍁

“Shush for a minute, please!”

For some time now, I've been sitting on thoughts and words. I am trying to feel my emotions without judgment and I just allow them to come and go.

Social media put on the pink gear and everyone talks about life before breast cancer, life after breast cancer and everything in between. Pictures are everywhere showing pain and death, life and victory. Who is still here? Who has lost the battle?

Many people who do the talking have no clue what they are talking about. They didn’t face a cancer diagnosis. They didn’t sit for hours inside a hospital room staring at the IV trying to avoid looking at the bruises in their arms. They didn’t wait for results praying for the best and imagining the worst.

Most of the people who do the talking didn’t have to put their lives on hold waiting for the storm to pass touching their bald heads and feeling the pain on their chests. Most of them never had to look in their children’s eyes and speak the words “Mama has breast cancer”.
Most of the people who do the talking think that they are experts waving statistics and stereotypes on survivors faces. Many of the people who do the talking try to play God and offer their prophecy in electronic-prepared scripts.

And in the midst of all the chaos, here we are; patients and survivors who try to make sense of our new reality. We struggle to put our pieces together and heal ourselves. We try to go back to work, raise our children, find the lost intimacy with our partners all over again. We do all these wearing a new body — full of scars — that we try to accept and embrace.

So please shush for a minute. Think before you re-post anything that can steal the hope we try to grasp from. Research what kind of information you have received before you try to pass it on. Stop spreading misinformation.

On October 1st, I quietly counted four years of my double mastectomy.
I have good days and challenging days. On my good days I try to connect with others and support their journeys. On my challenging days I try to reconnect with my body.
I have shared my story many times in different occasions. I am not here today to convince you to have a mammogram or ultrasound. You can do whatever it feels good for your body, but please don’t spread fear and worry about testing and treatments. If you have never had to make a decision that could cost your life please just save your preaching and be kind.

Love always
Vassi 💕

“ What’s on your mind? “ Facebook asks me every time I come to post something. I pause and think what’s on my mind. Which one of the one million thoughts are taking over my mind I would like to share?

Whoever knows me well enough knows that when I am quiet here, my life is usually chaotic 😂😂😂 — Many things happen one after the other and I don’t have enough time to process them and forget to post them. Good things, difficult things, new things, exciting things, all kind of things that make my life worth living.

I will write about all these moments in a later post. Today I am going to show you two of my latest pieces in black. I have a soft spot for black. Black is elegant, timeless and arrogant. Black is powerful and sophisticated. It compliments all the colours and can transform impressively any space.

Beatrice chose black for her two lovely pieces and I was happy to refinish them for her. Thank you for choosing Charisma, Beatrice. I truly appreciate it! 🖤🖤

I hope you took the time to hug your children a bit tighter today. Happy Mother’s Day 🌹🌹

I have never settled for mediocrity. I have zero interest for anything blah, anything boring, anything basic.

I always work hard with discipline and consistency. These two essential traits saved my life many times.

The love of what I do is unquestionable. I don’t seek external validation. I keep standing tall in my magic under any circumstances.

I still hold my brush proudly transforming anything that my clients desire. Today’s transformation is for Giselle. She is a return client of Charisma. I admire her energy and enthusiasm.

It was a pleasure working with you at your new place, Giselle. Wishing you all the best! I am beyond blessed and grateful to know you. Thank you for your loyalty and for choosing Charisma.

Love always!
