Gas pistons or springs? If you’ve been researching Murphy Beds, you’ve probably seen gas pistons recommended as the default. The truth is a little more practical: the right choice depends on your full wall bed system, especially how often you’ll use the bed and what kind of frame it’s built on.

In our experience, for frequent use, a spring lift system (paired with a steel or aluminum frame) is usually the better long-term option. It’s typically easier to operate day-to-day, and service down the road is often simpler.
