When I first created my Evo Creative Co account I chose the name “Creative” versus something specifically furniture refinishing focussed because I wanted to be able to branch out and share more things then just furniture if I wanted to.
I am always doing home decor projects, diys, or little home improvements when I’m not doing furniture refinishing, and I’ve been feeling more and more lately that these are things I should share on my feed.
Although this account started as a designated furniture account, and will likely still be predominately furniture, I have finally decided I will be sharing some of these home projects and DIYs with you as well! I hope you’ll stay along for this journey with me 😘

When I first created my Evo Creative Co account I chose the name “Creative” versus something specifically furniture refinishing focussed because I wanted to be able to branch out and share more things then just furniture if I wanted to.

I’ve been struggling to get back into furniture a little bit since my vacation (which I know is a silly thing to say since it’s literally my job lol) but I am so happy to have this piece finished!!
I intended to use dowels on these drawers to give it some added detail, however once I got to it it just didn’t feel right.

I also intended to use a different green in the beginning, but I found this color really complimented the wood base.

This was not at all my plan for this dresser lol. I envisioned clear raw wood and had sanded and sanded for literally days.
Until I discovered that some ugly spots on the top just couldn’t be hidden. Which is when I switched to plan B and chose this muted mustard color!
Totally out of my comfort zone to pick a color like this but I think I’m into it.

I had no idea where I was going with this tallboy until I was sanding off the previous finish and exposing this fantastic wood grain.
There were some sad veneer areas and some chipping, but I was very determined to not paint it after uncovering it’s raw beauty.
I’m so happy I was able to repair and camouflage the damaged veneer and keep this piece all wood versus painting.
What do you think? Are you still into these raw wood vibes?

This oak side table got a complete makeover this week!
The second I saw this piece I knew I was going to paint it a deep lagoony turquoise. Unfortunately it’s impossible to photograph, in person it’s a much deeper shade.
Of course I had to add legs to give it some more height and character!

I love all things bright, bold, and colourful. My motto for my own home is always that things “match because they don’t match”. If you’re someone who knows me personally you’ll know this is absolutely true lol.
I’m always afraid though to use this motto and method for furniture though, for fear that it won’t won’t sell or that people won’t enjoy it.
But I’ve decided to take more risks with my furniture, to do more fun and out there colors and designs. I will still keep doing the more subtle neutral designs as well, with some other bold and color options thrown in there as well!
This bold coral was shy of winning my earlier story poll by one vote, so I counted my own and went for it 😂 it’s suuuper hard to photograph, and in person it’s more of a bright coral then red.
What do you think? Are you team neutral furniture, or unique and colourful?

This piece sat partially finished for DAYS because I was waiting on legs, and then I was waiting on these k***s. It felt like all I did was wait for this guy.
But wow was it ever worth it. I am loving the way this walnut sideboard turned out.
That grain was an absolute show stopper for me, and I could just tell underneath all that oldddd grain hiding lacquer (swipe to see the before) that it was going to be an absolute gorgeous piece once it was exposed.
I bought this after only seeing one photo of it and I really took a gamble on this veneer. Honestly though, it’s basically perfect which is so relieving and so lovely to find.
Now someone please buy this piece quick before I decide that I’m going to keep it 😅

This tall Kroehler is an absolute stunner. Even though I’ve worked on Kroehler pieces before, I’m still always taken aback at their structural integrity and craftsmanship. They’re just built so fantastic!
Now after a lil makeover, it’s functional, sturdy, and super super cute in its fresh coat of pink!
Im thankful to be able to work on such fun pieces, thankful for customers who have such fun visions for their pieces, and thankful this cutie is going home to one of my friends so I can visit it! 😍

Finding projects that are super versatile is one of my most enjoyed aspects of furniture refinishing.
I think once you have that perfect piece in your home, you should be able to do with it what you want.
This sideboard is one of my favourite kind of pieces because this guy is the definition of versatile. I staged it a few different ways to reflect this, but really there are SO many different things you could use this cutie for.

Im so happy to have gotten this little cutie done today to show you all! 🖤 it was cutting it a little close but we did it.
This was my first attempt at a subtle whitewash to keep the exposed wood looking clear. After the way this top turned out I will be definitely using this technique in the future. I’m personally such a fan.
What do you think? Yes to clear wood or no?!
