We can be seen performing at local events such as Oktoberfest and Folkfest, as well as cultural events across the province. The Concordia Alpenrose Schuhplattler Verein was founded in 1981, in Saskatoon, when the group began entertaining at the city’s Folkfest and various seniors’ homes in the community. Throughout the years, the dancers have travelled extensively, attending festivals and competit
ions across Saskatchewan, Canada and the United States. They can also be seen performing at the German Cultural Centre during Saskatoon’s annual Folkfest and Oktoberfest. They are a member of the Saskatchewan German Council and the Gauverband Nordamerika, organizations dedicated to preserving and perpetuating the cultural heritage of Germany and Austria. They have a variety of traditional costumes, each varying in appearance based on the region they come from. Through the years their costumes have been handmade by different individuals or ordered from European specialty shops. They love to dance and perform together and are always looking to expand their membership.
