For this waterfront home on Buck Bayou, the vision was to create a poolside cabana fully connected to the architecture – a natural extension of the home rather than an addition.

Designer Julie Whitten drew from the home’s clean lines and understated detailing to create a space that feels cohesive and welcoming. Generous prep surfaces, a full suite of appliances, and bar seating designed for gathering support everything from relaxed afternoons by the pool to evenings spent preparing the day’s fresh catch.

San Diego mornings might be chilly right now, but in this outdoor kitchen… summer is basically forever.

The trick is treating the outdoor setup like a real kitchen, not just a grill. You need a spot to prep, a spot to land food, and the table close enough that you’re not doing laps.
