Heritage Upholstery was created when the previous business located in Saint John was sold in 1978. Since then we have developed into a well know name not only in the greater Saint John area and the valley but also throughout NB and the eastern USA. Though we mostly do residential upholstery, we have completed many commercial jobs for churches, restaurants, business offices etc as well as all types

of recreational vehicles. We also have the experience to complete any and all repair work and sell upholstery supplies including high density foam. We offer amateur Project Classes several times a year at our shop location. Our web site has more details.

Not long ago we were asked to do a number of items for a client. The project called for redesigning the frame for a regular box spring and then upholstering it. We had to manufacture a number of pieces including legs. Then we used fabric to cover the box spring itself and extend over to the sides and cover the new framework we built. You can see it looks amazing! What a wonderful upgrade to a boring old box spring.

To make things even that much more spectacular, we designed a headboard, manufactured it using 3/4 in plywood, padded it and then upholstered it.

This new box spring and headboard are unique impressive upgrades to a bedroom.

You can see the classy sitting chair and stool we upholstered as well.

Much of today's furniture is of the throw away variety. Signs of wearing occur within a year or two and reaching end of life in as early as 5 years. Absolutely terrible for the land fill but also not a wise expenditure of your hard earned money.

Here we have a chair that is about 50 years old and just as solid now as it was the day it landed in the owners home. The structure of this chair will last for several more generations.

A major transformation was requested by the client. This picture shows the result of combining our ideas. Gone is all of the previously viewable wood. A redesign and a lot of new padding.

The big reveal for the transformation of the recliner will happen in a couple of days.

In the meantime, I wanted to show you a picture of our shop. As you can see we like a clean environment with everything in it's place. (we will post more pics of the shop soon)

Some people think upholstery is about wrapping fabric around a frame with padding .... well, maybe it happens but more often then not I am asked to re imagine a piece of furniture. I am going to share with you one such project now. This is a older recliner - maybe 50 ish years old - that has had much better days. It has been upholstered once before many years ago by someone other than us. Though the picture might say to some "times up old girl/boy". But this fine structured beast is not ready to call it quits just yet. Not only are we recovering it but we will be re-imagining it. Watch for the completed transformed project coming your way in a couple of weeks.
