It’s official, and I’m not sure I’ve got it all figured but here we go!! Something Pretty Painted is now…

MEGBUILT

I’ve created a website to shop my latest furniture, and even my favourite hardware and drawer liners (peel and stick wallpaper). It was a bit of a doozy, as I thought I had a good handle on how the internet works but apparently I have no clue what I’m doing. After hours of YouTube videos and research I have a working website, linked to Instagram and Facebook, with only a few glitches but I’m sure they will get sorted as I go. I have been brainstorming a new business name for what feels like an eternity, so I am super excited, and relieved, to have landed on something that I am proud of and that will allow me to expand my business to more of a building/carpenter model. I still have a ways to go to get my dream workshop but that is the direction this page will be going. Still lots of refinished furniture but hopefully more “MEGBUILT” pieces built from scratch by yours truly!

Thanks for following along and sticking with me. You are all so appreciated and your kind words and support have literally got me through some tough days. When they say you can lose yourself in motherhood, I had no idea what they meant until I left my career in the financial field and consumed myself with all things baby. Now that my kids are getting older, I can’t wait to see where this new journey takes me. I hope to become a licensed carpenter, creating my own furniture and eventually completing small renovations/home improvements too! My first carpenters course starts this month, eeek!

My Story

I started this business a few years ago while trying to restyle my bedroom on a very tight budget. After graduating from University, I was still living at home and had no money whatsoever to fund my “dream bedroom” design ideas. So, I jumped on Kijiji and found an old dresser to paint - from there, and after a few years, Something Pretty was born! I am still refinishing furniture 5 years later and loving it more than ever. I find great joy in giving old things new life and most of all, SAVING money (although I still browse Wayfair often for new design ideas - who doesn’t love Wayfair!). I have made it my mission to create beautiful, stylish pieces at affordable prices. So if you see a piece you like, I welcome you to come check it out for yourself OR if you have your own piece you would like me to refinish I would be more than happy to discuss your vision with you.

In the meantime, I’ll be over here balancing Business Life & Mom Life; the craziest two adventures I’ve been on yet! I hope you enjoy all the pretty things I create as I continue to grow my business. Thank you so much for joining me on this journey.
