Throwback to 2 years ago when we delivered the longest one slab dining table Wood Streams ever made. This 17’ long x 52” wide table top required the sweat from 10 movers in order to make it to its final destination in the house. White Oak is definitely not the lightest wood to carry around. The leg frames and inlays were made out of mild steel finish with a gun metal powder coat.

It’s been a while since we took the time to post about our creations.
Here is a coffee table that found its new home last week. The dual step table top was designed with a cut between the two book match sister slabs. These Black Walnut slabs showcase a great balance between grain features and wild shapes of nature.
The leg frame was inspired by our Green Lake coffee table we made a bit more than a year ago. Shaped with asymmetrical curves, the two independent steel pieces form a structure that links the two slabs above.

Just wrapped up a stair, landing and handrail project this pm! All the 16 stairs and landing were from the same log that we milled 3.5 years ago. The character of these slabs features interesting lines that were brought to life and tell the story of this tree every step you take!

It was awesome to get the chance to share ideas with Sarah in order to create these beautiful dining tables for the Haus Heidi in Whistler. The Tree to Table project was made from 4 beautiful White Oak sister slabs showed behind Sarah on the first picture.

This is the story of a family moving Home to Canada from Japan. The table evokes the two coasts that share the same ocean. The dramatic landscape shaped by cliffs and Teal beaches takes form along the Beech live edge. The leg frame and table top were designed in order to showcase some sort of lightness, which we didn’t really feel during the delivery! 😅

Coming straight from the fruit of my imagination, the Golden Dreams Coffee Table came from a landscape inspiration, the natural beauty of a Black Walnut wood slab, and the mix of wood, brass and steel. The natural characteristics of the dark patina brass finished inlays blend in with knot holes and branch features. The golden reflexion of the brass plate illustrates the River of the Golden Dreams entering into Green Lake which is located right next to house where the table lives. The crisscrossed steel plates that make the leg frames, display the same oval shape as the table top. They were finished with dark patina and tweaked with some rusty hues to flow with the Walnut and floors. This table was part of a “carte blanche” project where we were allowed to completely design the piece from A to Z. Loved it!

A stream of reflection through Black Walnut. Patience and resilience led to this outcome. Sometimes wood slabs can be complex, as re-milling a slab can expose a higher humidity content in the middle. This needs to be calculated ahead of the cut in order to have enough material to deal with cupping and bowing.
