It’s a simple idea, but one that’s often overlooked, especially when it comes to mattresses.

Most conventional mattresses are designed as a single unit. When one layer wears out, the entire mattress is discarded, sending bulky materials to landfills that don’t have the space to accommodate them.

At Obasan, we take a different approach. Our custom mattresses are built modularly, so individual components can be swapped over time. If you need more support than your original configuration offers, you don’t have to start over! Simply contact our team, and we’ll happily guide you to the best adjustment or offer single-layer replacement options.

It’s a more thoughtful way to design: extending the life of your mattress, reducing unnecessary waste, and giving you the flexibility to evolve your comfort over time.

Better sleep shouldn’t come at the cost of throwing something away too soon.

What do GOTS & GOLS actually mean? When we say our mattresses and bedding are certified organic, it’s not just a claim: it’s verified.

GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the leading certification for organic textiles. It ensures the entire supply chain, from raw fibre to finished product, meets strict environmental and social criteria.

GOLS (Global Organic Latex Standard) focuses on latex, ensuring it comes from organic rubber trees and is made without harmful additives.

Together, these certifications go beyond surface-level claims to verify materials, manufacturing processes, and fair labour practices.

Other certifications, like OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 or GREENGUARD Gold, test for harmful substances or emissions in the final product, but they don’t certify that materials are organic or trace the full supply chain.

We choose GOTS and GOLS because they hold us to a higher standard, from source to sleep.

Because what you rest on should be as thoughtful as the rest you deserve.
