I hung up some inspiration at the shop today. I am so fortunate to have this. I got this a long time ago at a charity auction where most people didn’t know who they were. It was good for me, but it wasn’t as good for the charity as it should’ve been (don’t worry, I likely bid too much on something else that night).

I loved doing this vanity. It is so rich, video does it no justice. That is it pretty much done. There is a matching medicine cabinet and some tapered legs to finish and this one can head out to its new home!

Back on this sapele vanity, linen chest, and mirror set—and it feels good. These have solid 7/8” tapered frames, and 13/16” doors. Classic proportions, built right.

I’m not sure if I shared this before, but this was a really pretty quarter sawn cherry vanity. It was dyed with just a hint of mahogany to age it a little. Overtime the dye will fade, but the cherry will actually get darker all by itself.

I used to use one thick block of wood to make a tapered leg, but this is stronger with both sides of the miter using perpendicular quarter/rift grain. You also get the same grain look on both show sides of the leg. They seldom twist even when made much longer. It’s a bit more work, but worth it.

There are two vanities and a linen closer in this set, they are beautiful. The design is by .ca who commissioned this project. I initially wasn’t sure how I would like a deep inset, but, I have to say it looks great 👍

This 1960s maple dining table had all sorts of dents and scratches, it left our shop looking as good as new!
