This year we are supporting bees and other beneficial pollinators in a bigger way than ever before with Planet Bee Honey Farm & Honeymoon Meadery's "Pollinator Sanctuary" coming in 2027!
If you have been by their site on Bella Vista Road in Vernon, you will notice some changes as we convert a conventional pear orchard to an organic, special, safe, delicious ("lekker"!) place for bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and other species that pollinate.
We have started this Spring with a perimeter planting of native trees and shrubs that will protect the space from noise, dust and pollutants as well as a feature Linden tree that will offer gorgeous blooms, yummy scents and a bit of shade as it grows.

This photo of Keli's personal blooming wisteria caught a lot of attention on Instagram. It got a very hard prune this past winter and it turns out it LOVED it and is looking more beautiful than ever. Wisteria is not for everyone or every yard, plant with caution, high maintenance.

Organic Straw for the community garden! Got my own 25'x25' plot this year out at the agriculture park (I keep trying to tag them but FB doesn't understand the indigenous name spelling) and as is tradition on May 1st (Beltaine), planted cucumbers, but also tomatoes, potatoes, cauliflower, rosemary, marigolds and more will go in in the coming days and weeks.
It's dirty work, but the vibes are high!
It's so interesting to see all of the different styles of growing food, meet all the fellow gardeners, make connections, hear stories, feel like we're all doing something important, while having fun doing it and building community. Thanks Tasia-Li McGrew for your help and this very attractive ;) picture of me.
Not sure how I have time for this..., but here we are!

Anyone looking for organic straw bales on Saturday? I have to do a run, just don't want to get stuck with a bunch :)
