Aether Creations

Aether Creations Each of our projects is different and unique which allows us to express our creativity while meeting specific function and aesthetic design criteria. Clients –.

We're not just creating furniture, we're creating functional pieces of art for your home. Our Philosophy:
Be different. at Aether, everything starts with people. Inevitably our meetings with clients start with specific details about what the piece needs to do or where it will be installed or in some cases what it will look like when complete. What’s fascinating, for us, is that at some point the m

eeting turns from details to a more personal conversation where we learn more about lifestyles. These details are critical for us to adopt and remember for inclusion in the final piece. Our priority is to earn your trust in our people and in our company. When the piece is complete and installed and the client sees it for the first time, it’s the pause to take it in, then the smile, then the handshake or hug that drives is to NEXT. Projects – each one of the projects that we undertake is different, the finished pieces we create are never the same. Start – it begins when Aether shows up at your door, or you come to the shop, we work to form a relationship and earn your trust and confidence. This dictates how the build process goes forward. Middle – each project is identified with a specific part number allowing clients to visit our site and receive updates from the shop as your piece comes to be. You can share it with family or friends so they can become part of the process. Finish – when the piece is complete and installed Aether, the company, departs your space but Aether, the project, is left behind and remains to be our finger print. We pride ourselves on superior levels of client interaction and care. We take ownership of the final piece and determine success in two ways; first we ask ourselves would we proudly display the piece in our own home and the final stamp of approval is the client reaction. That pause, that smile then the handshake or hug.

Spalting in wood is illness or infection caused by fungi. This spalting manifests itself in beautiful patterns and colouration

When thinking about what to make for the Rumble & Roar Project, the tapped maple spoke to us; demonstrating nature's beauty, spalting, caused by illness. These rough pieces eventually told us what they should become and which project they should be used in

What a beautiful connection! In our minds, the point of this project started with the discovery of rough maple lumber. It is reinforced by the idea of beauty created as a result of illness. This is what spoke loudest to us, out of such illness can come such beauty

It is our great honour to offer this piece in the fundraising endeavors of the Remember Alex Project

Please read on to learn more about the event and how you can get involved.

We created this maple wine rack for the Remember Alex Project's Rumble & Roar event. It spoke to us as spalted maple's beauty is created from illness.

This client was looking for a shelving unit / rack to put under their TV which was mounted on a wall. They wanted to hide their cable box, house their Sonos speaker and have shelves for other items.

They were looking for a shelving unit that would blend into their current space. We took design ques from their coffee table which had some barn board wrapped around the outside of it along with the color of the furniture and the old authentic wide plank flooring.

A repeat client contacted us wanting a unique charcuterie board for a house warming gift. We dug through the inventory and discovered this live edge olive wood waiting to be enjoyed.

Finishing is such a peaceful stage for me! I like seeing what mother nature created, and wondering did I display it the best way possible?

Continuing our work with BSW Design www.bswdesign.ca they have requested three live edge shelves be completed to specific dimensions that we will not be installing. They are going to be installed in the client’s home in Picton, Ontario.

This is always a bit of a challenge but we have designed some metal brackets for each shelf that will be drilled and screwed into studs onsite by the home owner.

We are pleased to have earned the project and work is underway. The challenge is using a live edge piece of maple, cutting three shelves out of it and making it as easy to install as possible.

Our clients requested three custom live edge corner shelves.. They were installed in the client’s home in Picton, Ontario.

This client was looking for a gold color, hanging metal & glass shelf unit. After a complete kitchen renovation they wanted that last piece to complete the design.

The key to this one was matching the gold color already imbedded in the kitchen design. After much testing we nailed it! The design of the shelf took it's direction from the lights already installed made using 1/4" metal bar stock.

Stopped by yesterday and picked up some walnut, was a pleasure meeting Andrea and Jeff, for sure.

The larger one is going to be a coffee table for a client, they just don't know it's coming yet. The smaller ones, not sure yet but they were interesting enough to pick up.

If you have an idea for a custom piece please feel free to contact us to make it happen.

The clients had just put the finishing touches on a main floor renovation of their home in Newmarket. This kitchen was designed for entertaining but was missing a space for friends to gather and enjoy.

This piece reflects the modern, clean lines of the current kitchen and was purpose built from defined, manufactured products. The blend of metal and glass materials adds to the ‘look’ and appears as if it was part of the initial kitchen design.

Top – we used ½” thick glass, 5’ long x 2” wide matching the proportion of the kitchen.

Skirt – made from 1” x 3” steel tube powder coated flat black

Legs – three legs are made using 2” tube steel with a fourth made from 4”.

What to do with an amazing chunk of Yellow Birch? Custom design and create a Foyer Wall Shelf!

The grain and figure in this piece are amazing. Today was jigs & bend day for the middle support, 1/2" round bar. I really appreciate the iterative nature of the design process. It was heat, bend, cool & test fit, therapeutic indeed.

To explain a little, the "V" section of the metal frame will end up against the wall. The channel at either end get attached to the wall supporting the wood piece while the 1/2" bar provides support in the middle returning to the bottom of the "V" coming to rest in a piece of round pipe. It is friction fit to support the weight of the wood and, eventually, the glass shelf on top of it.

2 glass clips will be welded to the L channel at either side to receive the glass piece against the wall. The round bar sticking through the wood will support and level it.

The other thing about this piece is, it's the first one we have made that isn't for a client project. That means this piece will be on our website and available for sale very soon. If you are interested in this custom piece contact [email protected] for more detail and pricing.

If you have an idea for a custom piece give us a call and let's bring it to life.

This family approached us with a desire for a coffee table for their living room. The clients saw two pieces of lumber and wanted them used based on the grain and book matched pattern that existed.

Their desire to use these pieces presented challenges in that on their own they were different dimensions, didn’t naturally go together to form a table and required a clever design solution to make it work.

This interaction was really unique in that they placed their trust in us and only wanted to see the finished piece, they didn’t want updates or design clues. This is where we thrive!

After completing a main floor renovation, this client wanted a coffee table to fit with their new furniture and decor. It turned out they didn’t want the typical ‘coffee table’ style but something to match the new look of their home. We landed on the idea of a ‘couch table’ that would meet their wants and needs.
