I'm thrilled to have this ornate British full size cast iron and brass bed c1880-1900. It's headed off to the sandblaster and powder coater and will be refinished in a satin sheen black. I have just added a very unusual listing to my Etsy shop. It's of an unrestored bed that I think is lovely as it is with its gold paint and beautiful patina. This is the first time I listed a bed on Etsy without doing a full edit. People can see the bed in the back of my truck after I picked it up in the far outskirts of Gatineau and the 'bones' of my photography space. After lots of time, planning and the help of many good friends, I'm happy to announce that The Antique Iron Bed House AirBnB has officially launched. It's located in a separate part of my home and adjacent to my showroom and workshop....where the magic happens. If you're in the neighbourhood (about 50 minutes north east of Toronto) and looking for a place to stay, please think of me. And, no, the beds in the house are not for sale!

Reduce. Re-use. Recycle. These words epitomize this most unusual cast iron bed which is refinished in a shabby chic style. It looks very different than most cast iron beds because the interior portion consists of antique cast iron railings from a balustrade. They were probably made in France in the 1880 to 1900 time period. At some point in the more recent past, someone recycled them into a contemporary style bed frame using square tubing.
