How Big Should Art Be Above Your Sofa?
One of the most common questions we get asked is: “How big should the artwork be above my sofa?”
A good rule of thumb is to choose artwork that spans about 60–75% of your sofa's width.
For a standard 85" sofa, that means artwork roughly 51–64" wide. This could be one large horizontal piece, a balanced pair, or a grouping of smaller pieces that fit within those dimensions.
But when in doubt, go bigger! Oversized artwork almost always looks better than something too small, especially on a large wall.
💡 Our tip: Before you hang anything, use painter's tape to outline the size on your wall. It's an easy way to see how the proportions will look before committing!
Sometimes, getting the scale right makes all the difference.
