A step stool I made in January, made of solid maple and pine plywood for the sides. I was pretty happy with how it came out, despite how tricky some of the measurements were.

It’s been a while since I updated my page, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy. This is a project I did back in April 2024, and it was pretty straightforward. I was pretty happy with how they turned out.

A set of tables I refinished in February.

This was a little more tricky than most of my projects. The client wanted the pieces stripped to bare wood and given a clear finish, so I thought the way to get the best result was to take all the pieces apart so I could sand and finish each piece individually, rather than awkwardly try to get in the corners with sandpaper and such. All in all, i'm quite happy with how they turned out.

A set of dressers I repainted, fixed in July - August 2022.

This was a bit of a tricky job, with many different steps needed to get the result I wanted. I had to fix up some of the drawers as well as the drawer tracks, and tighten up the sides of the dressers that were coming apart. All in all, i'm pretty happy with the end result. What used to be a mismatched bunch now look like a set!

An oak table I refinished in May 2022.

This one was pretty straightforward, the table had basically no finish on the top and I was asked to spruce it up again. There were also a few cracks lifting up off the tabletop which I had to fix with some glue. I was pretty happy with the final result after a sand and a few coats of finish.

A child's bed that I made in February 2022.

I was asked by a friend if I could make a child's bed for her, based off a Montessori bed on Etsy. The main challenge was to make it sturdy while also being easy to disassemble. I managed to achieve this by having the rails on the sides as well as the head and footboard attach with locks, and have the rails snug up to the supports on both sides.

It was a fun challenge making something new rather than refinishing something old and worn for a change.
Hope you like it!

A table and set of chairs I refinished in 2021.

This was easily the biggest and longest refinishing project i've done. I started sometime in August and finished just before Christmas. It was quite satisfying to do, to give these scratched up table and chairs a new personality with different colour stain and paint.

A set of Table and Chairs I restored in August of 2021.

This was an interesting project, for the most part it was a fairly straightforward job of stripping and re-finishing the varnish on the chairs and table, but the tricky thing was what to do about the table top.

The old table top was covered in thin vinyl which had worn down to the point that it wasn't usable anymore, and the plywood underneath wasn't a good enough quality to stain and varnish.

What I decided to do was to add on an 1/8" of an inch thick piece of oak plywood to make the new tabletop out of, and I think it worked quite well.

A tabletop I refinished in June of 2021.

This was a bit more tricky than other projects i've done, I originally tried to do a spot fix to reduce the time and materials needed to refinish it, but the stain wouldn't go on evenly. I eventually decided to strip the top and re-stain and varnish from scratch, and I think the result speaks for itself.
