Friends, today we would like to introduce you our maestro, chief designer of the Blest company - Domenico Larato.
Domenico himself recalls the beginning of his design career: "After serving in the army, at the age of 20, I got a job at the Natuzzi furniture company as a cutter, then assembled furniture, worked with upholstery materials ... In a word, in two years I went through all possible stages of production as an ordinary worker. This gave me the opportunity to understand what decisions need to be made at the design stage so that it can be implemented in production. After two years of work, I was already entrusted with management positions. I started working as a furniture designer, creating new models of furniture."
Domenico started cooperating with ™ Blest back in 2012. It was then that such legendary models as Softy, Barry, Jersey, and City appeared, which to this day remain clear favorites of our customers.
Over the past few months, Domenico Larato has already designed more than 10 models for all Blest ™ collections, each of which has its own idea, story and design."

COMMENT CHOISIR UN TISSU DURABLE ET QU'EST-CE QUE C'EST LE TEST DE MARTINDALE ?
Le test Martindale est un test d'abrasion ou de frottement permettant de mesurer la durabilité d'un tissu et de déterminer son aptitude à différents usages : usage décoratif, usage domestique léger, usage domestique général, usage à fort trafic ou usage commercial. Selon le nombre de fois que les petits disques de laine peignée ou de treillis métallique sont continuellement frottés contre le tissu jusq'au moment quand il commence à montrer une détresse ou un changement d'apparence notable.
Le test est reconnu dans le monde entier, selon lequel chaque tissu est classé par un score numérique pour montrer sa durabilité. La durabilité est mesurée en milliers de frottements ou de cycles, plus la valeur est élevée, plus le tissu est durable.
Voir ci-dessous l'aptitude du tissu à différentes utilisations selon le test de Martindale:

6 000 à 10 000 cycles: accessoires décoratifs uniquement, ne convient pas au rembourrage de meubles ou à un usage général

10 000 - 15 000 cycles: Usage domestique léger

HOW TO CHOOSE A DURABLE FABRIC AND WHAT IS MARTINDALE TEST?

The Martindale test is an abrasion test or rub test to measure the durability of fabric and to determine its suitability for different uses: decorative use, light domestic use, general domestic use, heavy traffic use or commercial use. According to the amount of times the small discs of worsted wool or wire mesh are continually rubbed against the fabric until t it starts to show distress or noticeable change in appearance.
The test is recognized all over the world, according to which each fabric is categorized by a numerical score to show how durable it is. The durability is measured in 1000’s of rubs or cycles, the higher the value the more durable the fabric is.
See here below the suitability of fabric for different uses according to martindale test:

6000-10,000 cycles: Decorative accessories only, not suitable for furniture upholstery or general use

10,000 - 15,000 cycles: Light domestic use
Fabrics with this score fabrics are made from delicate yarns which can be used for occasional furniture production and dry clean only.

15,000 - 25,000: General domestic use
With this value fabrics are made for general everyday use but not suitable for motion furniture such as sofa beds or recliners, as they put a high level of stress on the fabric.

25,000 - 30,000: Heavy duty use
A fabric with this value can be used for production of all kinds of domestic furniture, including recliners and sofa beds (furniture with motion).
