Throwback to these black walnut floating shelves we installed this past winter. We had installed the cabinets 2 winters ago, and finished the wall off with some floating shelves 🪵

Delivery Day Tomorrow!

It’s going to be a bitter sweet feeling seeing this table go. It feels like it took forever, but I didn’t want to skip a single step. From building the mold for the pour, to the last coat of finish that was buffed on, I wanted to get it right. A ton of trial and error, but I couldn’t be happier with the finished product.
I really didn’t feel “qualified” to do this large of a pour at first. A lot of self doubt, and sleepless nights. Up until this build my biggest epoxy pour was 2 litres. This table was 58 litres. I would suggest adding a middle ground pour in there to get comfortable, but what the hell. Why not jump in head first. Epoxy is such a time consuming product that I learn something new with every time I mix a batch. Lots of research, and questions to some very helpful makers along the way and it’s complete.
I’m really thankful for the trust my client put into me for this piece and allowing me to create this dining table. Thinking about the conversations, meals, and laughs that will be had around it over the years, and I’m glad I played a part in making it happen.

Finished pictures and videos to come in the near future!

Nearing the finish stages on this live edge mantle!

I burned myself out this year from the Christmas rush. Put in way too many hours, took almost 2 weeks of paid holidays from my day job to bury myself in work, and the shop started to feel like a full time job. I wasn’t enjoying it at all.
-
I took a couple months off to start the new year and hardly set foot in my shop.
Now it’s feeling like a hobby again and I’m actually looking forward to the projects I’ve got lined up this spring 🤘🏻

Sometimes it’s nice to shut the brain off and go back to making a simple, wooden cutting board.

Birdseye maple, curly maple, black walnut….Perfect trio.
