Goodbyes are hard.
The girl who started this renovation was full of gumption and didn’t mind getting messy. She didn’t know the difference between plaster and drywall, she only knew she wanted to get her hands dirty and learn along the way. And that she did! Sometimes I miss her and her endless ingenuity (matched only by her naiveté!)

Two years later, countless hours, blood, sweat, tears, and a lot of amazing people giving me advice and donating their bodies and their brains and their time, and here we are.
I couldn’t have done it without your support. It’s sad to say goodbye to this house but I’m already looking forward to the next project!

My only regret is I didn’t keep the kitchen shower. Would make my morning routine a lot more efficient!

***SOLD!***
This house was a challenge.
It was supposed to be fast, it was supposed to be cheap. But a third of the budget ended up going to fixing the foundation, which left me to fill in the gaps with a lot of ingenuity and elbow grease. But I am so happy the new owners appreciate all the love and effort that went into bringing it up to speed.

It’s been 10 months from when we first saw the place to now. Not quick, not cheap, but I’m so proud I was able to turn this 130 year old house into what I’m sure will be a loving home for years to come, and I’m grateful for everything I learned along the way.

Also a huge thank you to for being there with me every step of the journey and working so hard to sell this house for us!

Were you here for the whole renovation?

Finally almost done this kitchen, thank you all for helping me pick the cabinet handles. Do you remember when I posted the drawing of my vision for the kitchen and everyone roasted it because it was so juvenile? Well clearly I was into something because it looks nearly identical to the final result! Swipe to see what the place looked like when I bought it. How did I do?

FOR SALE! I sat on this piece for about 8 months before I decided to paint the body black, but I love how it turned out! I think it makes the wood pop that much more, don’t you? @ London, Ontario

Really happy with how this piece turned out! I found her on the side of the road months ago but was undecided on what to do. The top was stained all kinds of colours and had some scratches. I finally chose to give the midcentury look a modern upgrade, you know how much I love white! Using my new paint sprayer made it a breeze to get the super clean look I wanted. I’m thinking of doing a review on the paint sprayer, comment below if you’re interested! @ London, Ontario

Check out this glow up! I picked up this pine dresser off the side of the road in the pouring rain around midnight in May! When I saw those dovetail joints I knew I had to have it. The hardest part was rebuilding the chipped drawer corners, which I accomplished with a looooot of wood filler and waiting and sanding and wood filler and waiting and sanding. Another struggle was drilling new holes for the hardware, if you look closely you can tell I’m bad at levelling things. Don’t ever ask me to hang a picture for you. And thank you to the donor who gave me those handles by the way, they were perfect for this piece! @ London, Ontario

It’s too cloudy today to get a great photo but this piece is finished! I loved finding out all her secrets, her half blind dovetail joints and gorgeous gold hardware. I was so split on whether to go dark or light on the top but eventually I chose to use my special walnut since I’m nearly out. Next time I swear I’ll spring for some water based poly and keep her light. Hope everyone is having a great long weekend and making the best of this poor weather! @ London, Ontario

I like to think of furniture styles as being part of a “genre”, like music: there’s midcentury modern, primitive, farmhouse, etc. I like to think of this as a crossover between modern and... beach? What do you guys think? How do you categorize and describe your pieces?

If at first you don’t succeed, paint, paint again! Though I was in love with the boho couch, I can’t deny that it looks much more regal in this velvety grey colour. Perfect for getting snowed in, enjoying a cup of hot cocoa wrapped in a fuzzy blanket with a favourite book. Would look beautiful in a living room or bedroom! Now for sale. @ London, Ontario

I know this looks like a super boring photo of a basic black table but just wait until you see the before! This table was severely damaged with water bubbles, cracked veneer, and even a hole burned into it! I used shellac after using wood filler to prevent shrinking and then used my favourite black gel stain on top followed by some poly. Now the table actually matches the chairs and I have a very happy client! Swipe to see the before to get the full effect. @ London, Ontario
