McCormick Care Group The McCormick Care Group is a non-denominational charitable organization based in London, Ontario, providing compassionate care to the community.

McCormick Care Group operates McCormick Home, a long-term care facility for seniors; McCormick Dementia Services, to provide care and support to people living in the community with dementia and their care partners; and McCormick Dementia Research, to push innovation in dementia care and develop new ways to manage dementia for people and their families. While each plays a unique role in caring for those with dementia, they’re all guided by the same principles for providing compassionate care.

Our team recently participated in a Pleasurable Dining Simulation, stepping into the resident and client experience to explore what it feels like to receive support during mealtimes.

Through the experience, team members reflected on how communication, dignity, choice, and meaningful connection can shape the way someone experiences a meal.

Because a pleasurable mealtime is about more than what’s on the plate. It’s about feeling heard, respected, comfortable, and connected.

We are in need of course marshals, who play a vital role in keeping runners safe, cheering them on, and helping everyone find their way around the route. No running experience needed! Sit or stand at a route station and point in the right direction!

Every person carries a lifetime of stories, experiences, relationships and accomplishments that have shaped who they are.
 
Dementia may change the way someone remembers or communicates those stories, but it does not take away the life they have lived or the person they continue to be.
 
Through “I Once Was…”, clients at McCormick Dementia Services shared glimpses of the roles they’ve held, the things they’ve loved and the experiences that have made them who they are.
 
When we look beyond dementia and take the time to truly see the person, we honour their story and the dignity, compassion and respect they deserve.
