A swing top folding card table came into the shop for restoration. Years previously it has been aggressively stripped and poorly repaired by some schmo contractor.

Restoration of an antique mahogany cabinet damaged when shipped over from Europe. The long metal hinges along the sides of the drop front had snapped off and ripped out some of the veneers which had to be replaced without stripping off the original finish. The front legs had been broken and had to be reglued and reinforced. The drop front had been open for decades, this retaining its original colour while the rest of the cabinet faded over time, especially the inside surface of the drop front. Hand applied button shellac and boiled linseed French polish finish. It was important to retain the original finish and patina to preserve the value of the piece.
