Some shots after a gorgeous couple days raising on Lake of Bays 🌲

The photos don’t give the real scale of this frame any justice. Sitting roughly 17’x21’ with 10x10 posts, 10x16 plates, and massive 8x roof components, this frame is an absolute beast!

The posts and plates were raised with genie lifts and then the roof system was flown in by a crane truck on a barge the following day. All Douglas Fir Timbers with a custom 2 part stain applied.

Well here it is! The final raising clips from Week 2 of our Introduction to Timber Framing Course 🌲

On Saturday we raised the second half of our 12x18 Hunt Camp Cabin with all of the students from Week 2 of the course! This frame was is all Eastern White Pine with Black Walnut Splines and White Oak Pegs. This project was cut and raised over the course of 10 days by approximately 15 Students and Instructors.

Off to a great start with Week 2 of our Introduction to Timber Framing Course! 🌲

We kicked things off yesterday with some sharpening demonstrations then got right in to cutting knee braces! All of the braces have been cut and now we’re moving on to plates and beams!

We had Dean pop by for the afternoon to give a guest lesson on a specific rafter saddle notch, thanks again for coming by Dean!! Week 2 is off to a great start, stay tuned for the end of the week for when we raise the full structure!
