The little details make a big difference.

When I refinish a piece, I try to think about every aspect of it — not just the things the new owner will notice, but also the things they probably won't.

For this pine cabinet, that meant brushing paint into areas my sprayer missed, replacing the backing, conditioning the unfinished wood on the bottom, polishing the brass shelf supports and adding felt pads to the feet.

These extra steps take time, but they’re what make a piece feel truly complete.

This pine cabinet started as a thrifted find from The Salvation Army Thrift Store - Canada and has been fully refinished with scalloped trim, new backing, updated hardware, stained top and feet, and a custom blue-green body using Country Chic Paint.

Price: $395 firm.
Measurements: 30.25” tall, 32” wide and 18” deep.

This quality Canadian-made five-drawer maple tallboy has been fully refinished and is ready for its next home.

The top has been done in a warm brown with soft grey undertones, while the bottom features a creamy off-white colour for a modern dipped look. The entire piece has been sealed for durability and updated with new champagne bronze k***s and pulls.

The dovetail drawers have been cleaned, sanded and conditioned for smooth operation, and are lined with a beautiful green-toned floral wallpaper for an added touch of character.

With its neutral tones, timeless design and generous storage, this is a perfect statement piece for a bedroom, guest room or hallway.

Measurements: 48.25” tall, 33” wide and 16.75” deep.

Sold. This vintage solid-wood, three-drawer chest has been completely refinished and is ready for its next home.

The top is stained in a warm medium brown, while the body is painted in a blue-toned grey, complemented by a sailboat decor transfer and rope-knot k***s. The entire piece has been sealed for durability.

The drawers feature dovetail joints and have been cleaned, sanded and conditioned to ensure smooth operation.

Perfect for an entryway, living room, bedroom or anywhere extra storage is needed. This piece would feel right at home in a seaside setting, cottage or any interior space where you want to add coastal charm.

Painted in antique white milk paint with stained wood shelves and door inlays, this piece is proof that a good DIY can make something old feel new again.

A fresh start for a classic piece.

This Drexel buffet got a makeover with a custom mix of Fusion Mineral Paint’s Casement and Algonquin. The top was treated with a layered stain combo — Minwax Classic Grey over Special Walnut — then sealed with satin wipe-on poly for a silky-smooth finish. And a touch of Rub ’n Buff in European Gold brought the hardware back to life.

She’s not for sale — this beauty’s staying right here as my new TV stand. Bonus: all the extra storage for corralling video game gear and board games.

I can’t believe I only have one pre-makeover photo of this nine-drawer mid-century modern dresser that I rescued from the side of the road. Products used:

- Country Chic Paint in Pop the Bubbly, along with their clear coat (to seal paint) and h**p oil (to rejuvenate drawers).⁣
- Minwax oil-modified polyurethane (to seal raw wood).⁣
- Redesign with Prima Eastern Fountain stencil.⁣
