Bahnmann Timber in the Cowichan Valley is a supplier of furniture wood, live edge and epoxy project wood. We mill and air dry Vancouver Island logs, and inventory our wood products in our warehouse just south of Duncan. In stock you will find: Western Maple, Garry Oak, Red Alder, Rock Elm, Pacific Yew, Douglas Fir, Red Cedar, Sequoia, Fruitwood, and more. There is wood for projects small to large, from cutting boards on up to table tops, mantels, and bar tops. Contact us for an appointment to view the 6000 sq foot warehouse, and be inspired. Rock Elm. I have been milling elm logs for the past year, and appreciate the fine grain, and rich colours, which tend to darken in the air drying process. Currently in the Bahnmann Timber warehouse you will find 1, and 2 inch thick elm slabs, up to 16 inches wide. This wood is wonderful for shelving, smaller tables, and cutting or charcuterie board wood. Contact us on FB to make an appointment to view this wood and much more. Big ole Garry Oak log. The shape of this log made it somewhat awkward to handle and get milled down, but it was well worth the time. It was absolutely incredible to see what appeared during the process. This wood was milled last summer, and is now air drying in the Bahnmann Timber warehouse, along with hundreds of other slabs of local wood. Make an appointment to drop in for a visit. A burning question. High above the Cowichan Valley's southern line of hills, the slash piles of industry waste wood are stacked after logging, then burned in the wet season. Much of this wood could be used locally for fuel, or even milling. Economies of scale and global markets mean costs are too high for corporations to make use of these resources. Surely there is a better way. Got any ideas?

Ready for yew. Pacific Yew is a prized west coast BC wood, uses include; cabinetry and furniture making, carving, musical instrument making, turning and bow wood. This species is becoming rare as the old growth forests get logged out. All of our yew logs are salvaged after logging operations, so supplies are limited and hard to source. At Bahnmann Timber we strive to maintain a modest inventory to by supply yew for small specialty woodworking projects.
