For this pair of end grain boards, we began by selecting and preparing a mix of Maple, Birdseye Maple, Black Walnut, and Purpleheart—balancing tones, grain patterns, and contrast to create a layout that feels both structured and dynamic.

Rebuilt from the inside out.

With the old materials removed, the framework was strengthened and rebuilt, plywood finished and painted, and the electric fireplace reinstalled with precision.

The featured woodwork really brings this project to life—exquisitely stained Birdseye Maple paired with mantel pieces crafted from salvaged Douglas Fir reclaimed from the horse paddocks.

Look closely and you’ll see the history preserved in the wood itself—bite marks, hoof marks, and all.

Every great transformation starts by taking things apart.

At Kathy’s home, we began this fireplace renovation project by carefully dismantling the existing stone and framework, removing the electric fireplace, reframing the structure, rerouting power and prepping for a completely new vision.

What looks like chaos here is actually clarity—making room for cleaner lines, stronger structure, and a warmer, more intentional finish.

Finished, delivered, and officially home.

With the sliding barn door, black hardware, and oak tabletop installed and affixed, the finishing details really bring everything together—a CNC-routered name plate, custom paw-print accents, and that striking pink epoxy inlay.

Now complete and right where it belongs, this crate has truly become “Destiny’s Den”—a comfortable retreat for Destiny and a functional furniture piece for the family’s foyer.
