It is a beautiful Friday afternoon here in the historic Bridgeburg District, and we have the showroom speakers tuned into a random "Decade of the Day."

Right now, the classic 1950s anthem "The Wanderer" is echoing through our aisles. Listening to those nostalgic chords got our showroom sweethearts thinking about the incredible history right inside these walls at 87 Jarvis Street. As you can see, they even dressed up in their favourite 1950s garb to celebrate!

Did you know that long before we became Bridgeburg Furniture, this very showroom floor once housed one of the very first Leon's store locations in Canada? It opened way back in 1956. This exact spot has been a cornerstone for helping local families make their houses feel like home.

We are incredibly proud to sit right at the top of the street, flanking a vibrant block packed with amazing small businesses. We love that a quick trip to our neighbourhood lets you check everything off your to-do list in one spot. You can visit the chiropractor or the pharmacy, drop your pup off at the dog groomer, head to the beauty spa or the yoga studio, and stop by the accountant or the banking center. You can even squeeze in a workout at the 24-hour gym, treat yourself at an independent clothing retailer or metaphysical shop, look into a new hot tub, or visit the local barber.

Our "showroom sweethearts" are officially back from their ice cream run, and tonight they are settling in for the ultimate movie night at home!

August is all about slowing down and soaking up the final weeks of summer. If you are looking for the perfect way to spend a warm afternoon, we have a winning recipe right here on our street:

First, stop by The Manic Maker and indulge in one of their scrumptious banana splits, then take a relaxing stroll up Jarvis Street and enjoy the sunshine. You'll find several reasons to stop and shop your way up to our showroom at 87 Jarvis Street.

While you stroll, here is a little trivia: our "showroom sweethearts" did some digging into the history books and found out that while the banana split was born south of the border in 1904, it crossed into Canadian pharmacies and soda fountains just a year or two later. They were served at places along Jarvis Street like Camm's Pharmacy and Scotty Jackson’s Confectionery Shop.

Today, The Manic Maker, located at 26 Jarvis Street, bridges the gap between past and present by operating as a café that specializes in small-batch freeze-dried candies, premium soft-serve ice cream, and handcrafted flurries and coffee.

Once you finish your treat down the street, you're welcome to pop into our showroom to escape the heat and enjoy the crisp air conditioning. You don't need to be actively shopping for a new kitchen or a living room set to visit us—we love it when our neighbours stop by just to say hello and test out a comfy recliner!

The August long weekend is almost upon us! Whether you are planning a backyard BBQ, relaxing by the water, or tackling some home projects, we hope you have a fantastic break.

As a reminder, we will be open tomorrow (Saturday) and are always closed on Sundays and Mondays, so our team will be out enjoying the sunshine on the Monday holiday.

Head over to the Fort Erie Race Track for the annual Corgi and Basset Hound Races and Battle of the Breeds on Monday, August 3rd right after the horse racing wraps up. Admission is free, there will be food trucks, and it is a fantastic, fun-filled event for the whole family.
