A dollhouse fit for a queen, commissioned as a heirloom piece for a very special little girl this Christmas. Constructed from maple with oak sills and shutters, a scalloped roofline, hand turned legs, and soft close drawers, this dollhouse awaits many days of imagination. 🎄

Another project out the door, and we couldn’t be more satisfied with how this entry way bench turned out! Constructed from kiln-dried solid oak, this bench is pieced together with a combination of dowel and mortise & tenon joinery. Showcased throughout the base, is a floating panel design with continuous grain pattern throughout. The top is equipped with a piano hinge to allow for storage within. The client’s stain of choice, Jacobean, completes the “worn” appearance which was then sealed to protect with a HVLP lacquer application for long lasting durability. We’ve acquired quite a few stain varieties over the years and it was time to make some samples. It’s always important to test stains on the actual wood species you are working with as stain absorbs differently across wood species. Additionally, I always suggest applying pre-stain conditioner to ensure uniform stain application.

Most pieces brought to us are family heirlooms, and this child’s desk was no exception. It was once Grandpa’s desk, now a grandson’s desk. This piece was sanded down, primed and painted in “Subway Metro” by BeautiTone collection. Wood surfaces sanded down and stained with Ipswich Pine by Miniwax and then sealed with HVLP sprayed Lacquer in a satin finish. Finally, hand waxed for a silky smooth finish. The chatoyancy on the desk top is quite appealing!
