This week, our Member Spotlight goes out to the fabulous team at e3 Office Furniture!!
E3 Office Furniture and Interiors Inc is a Nova Scotia based supplier of office furniture, with customers from across Canada. Terry Hickey and his wife Barb Houlahan began the business together in 2010. All three of their sons, Luke, Spencer and Patrick have worked in the business.
The company’s head office is located 130 John Savage Avenue, Dartmouth, which is also the head office for their affiliate indigenous owned Mi’kmaq Office Furniture.
With sales staff in Western, Central and Eastern Canada, the company has long serviced customers beyond the borders of Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada due to its roots as an online retailer. Instead of starting off with a traditional brick and mortar presence, e3 first began selling commercial office furniture online to businesses in Atlantic Canada. The company then added staff in Ottawa and Alberta seven years ago. The company now prides themselves on having customers in all 10 provinces and territories. “There isn’t anywhere we won’t ship to. From Iqaluit to Grand Manan Island, there isn’t a place too remote for us to deliver and install office furniture,” noted Terry.
As an independent dealer, e3 staff have the freedom to offer customers products from any Canadian, US or international supplier they feel will be the best fit for their customers. The company boasts of having a larger number of staff than its competitors who are well-trained in office space planning, thus allowing them to respond quickly with office space designs and quotes.
Terry has been a member of one of our Peer-to-Peer groups for over 2 years. Terry said, “my goal in joining FBA was to learn from both 1st and 2nd generation family members the dynamics and challenges that they have experienced in working with family members so I would make better decisions day to day and for succession planning.”
