Look who turns 1 today
Born sometime between 1:30 am and 4:50 am on this day in 2022 was RCR Skies the Limit aka Shania. This filly is spicy but is showing great potential as a solid mare.

She measured 35" at the OSESA show on the 24th so is going to be a big girl.

She will start obstacle work now that some of the sass is settling.

The neurological and abortion types of EH Virus - 1 have been detected in Simcoe County.

EHV-1 is a type of flu like infection that is spread from horse-to-horse contact, as well as through fomites such as owners, buckets and visitors including veterinarians and farriers.

Most initial outbreaks are from animals frequently coming and going from barns. Most horses are affected by the flu version of this disease, but some can develop the neurological and abortion-causing strains.

There is no vaccine licensed for these strains, but there is a vaccine for the flu-like disease.

What can barns do to help stop the spread?

Quarantine all new incoming horses for 21 days.
Limit contact for barn horses travelling to competitions for 7 days. Take these horses' temperature daily for this time.
Use separate buckets, wheelbarrows and brushes for these horses.
Vaccinate your travelling horses for EHV.

Worked stopped in sewing shop yesterday for the birth of this gorgeous filly. Mom and baby doing fine now. Was bedding down stall for Ebony and her baby when Millie laid down under apple tree and her water broke. Long night last night as filly and mom were figuring out how nursing worked. Dr. Shawna from North Simcoe Vet came out. Managed to milk some off to feed baby. Set timer for 60 minutes, laid down on my hay bale bed and milked twice feeding filly. She started helping on third milking. Stayed down till 2 am to be sure things were good.

All good this morning. Filly nickers, Millie answers, nursing begins.

Side and end panels for the horse trailer turned out well. Put tabs on inside of these since the side panels are in 2 pieces. Forgot to do that on mine so it is sometimes a guessing game as to which side it goes on

Busy week ahead, finishing up motorcycle seat, 2 boat covers and a boat interior.

First boat of the season landed yesterday. Finishing up interiors that have been here over the winter. Supply chain is still an issue this year but doing our best to serve our customers
