$12.99 thrift find ➡️ plant stand glow-up 🌿

This two-tier mahogany plant stand had a failing bright red finish, water damage, burn marks, and rough pine legs. After a thorough cleaning, sanding, some spot repairs, and a fresh coat of Fusion Mineral Paint in Coal, I toned down the red mahogany with a Barnwood stain and sealed everything for durability.

I usually sell my flips, but this one is staying home with me and my plant babies 🖤

This bookcase was almost dumped.
Water damage. Missing veneer. Deep scratches. Musty smell.
But underneath? Beautiful solid wood worth saving.
I used it to practice veneer repair skills, and now you’d never even notice the damage.
Definitely one of my favourite rescues so far.

I noticed that my Facebook account was hacked yesterday… so naturally I went thrifting for emotional support 😅

Found 3 pieces with potential, and honestly, digging through thrift stores might be cheaper than therapy. Maybe. Barely.

Wish me luck in the Facebook fiasco!

Let’s just skip to the satisfying part ✨

Watching the oil hit thirsty wood never gets old. The chatoyancy in the sunlight at the end though 😍

Vintage wooden plate rescue ✨

A little oxalic acid, lots of hand sanding, and Odie’s Oil brought this old piece back to life. I couldn’t completely erase the water damage, so I leaned into a richer, darker finish instead — and honestly, I love the warmth it added. I’m calling it “driftwood character” 😂

My best guess for the wood species is acacia, maybe teak… possibly even walnut. Curious what everyone else thinks?

Also, what would you use this for?

Not every piece needs to be stripped to be restored.

This vintage mahogany desk still carries the dents, scratches, and character earned through decades of use — just now with a richer tone and renewed life.

Sometimes preserving the history matters more than erasing it ❤️
