Hello, I'm Deborah Fissha, and I'm the proud mother of a kind, thoughtful young man, Esmond—he’s 10 years old and the inspiration behind everything I do.
Thirteen years ago, I arrived in Canada, full of hopes and dreams. Like many immigrants, I worked in survival jobs, but I found my true calling with Immigrant Services Calgary. Over eight years, I’ve had the privilege of helping more than 5,000 newcomers to Canada, providing support through one-on-one interactions, workshops, and community events. Serving others isn't just what I do, it's who I am."
Then, in February 2023, my life took a new direction. I faced my fears and decided to start my own business. And what better place to turn than Momentum? I used to refer my clients there for programs, and now it was my turn to build something from the ground up.
With their support, I brought my dream to life—Ezy’s Village Childcare. It's a childcare service that brings care to your event, your space, your community—anywhere across Canada. Named after my son Esmond's nickname, Ezy’s Village is about creating a safe, loving village for children to feel valued, nurtured, and truly themselves.
My vision is rooted in the belief that if we give children what they need—love, care, and guidance—they will grow into thoughtful, compassionate adults. We are not just offering a service; We are offering a community, a village where children can thrive. And that’s what Ezy’s Village is all about.
Let me share a bit about what we do…
1. Event Childcare:
We provide on-site childcare for events, so no more ‘children not invited’ on invitations. We create a space where kids can have fun while adults enjoy the occasion with peace of mind.
2. Seasonal Camps:
Winter, spring, summer—our camps give children an unforgettable experience. Whether it’s skating, rollerblading, or even camping, we’re teaching kids to embrace the Canadian way of life while learning about different cultures.
3. PD Days & Holiday Childcare:
Finding care on school closure days can be stressful. We’re here for families who need a little extra help during those tricky times. Just 15 children, and we’re ready to go!
4. Evening & Weekend Care:
Fridays and Saturdays, we’re giving parents the opportunity to take a much-needed break. Whether it's a date night or a chance to catch up with friends, your kids will be safe, happy, and cared for while you relax.
5. Youth Mentorship:
This is where my heart truly lies. Our mentorship program for youth creates a safe space for them to explore their dreams, develop life skills, and navigate challenges. I've seen too many young lives lost to addiction, bullying, and gangs, and I’m determined to create a positive impact.
My journey has been shaped by the love and support of so many people—my family, my mentors, and my community. I’ve volunteered since I was 14, and now I’m paying it forward, creating a village for children and youth to grow in safety, love, and joy.
Ezy’s Village is my way of making the world a little brighter for the next generation. Together, we can raise happy, confident children. Thank you for being part of our village.
