Here’s a recent desk made for some awesome repeat clients looking for a custom piece that is simple, modern, and affords a large clean workspace for their brand new home and dedicated office.

This is made using solid 8/4 (2” thick) Ash from my friends at WoodCache. Ash is an incredibly versatile species that can be stained, left natural, or in the case of this desk, treated to give it a natural aged appearance. My clients wanted a naturally greyed out appearance, and by using Tannic Activator and Barn Wood Effect I was able to bring out a uniform colouration that is a natural effect of the wood and goes exceptionally deep.
The legs were brought in from an artist in California to make it even more unique. This is a great addition to a beautiful home and amazing couple.

Since we’re on the topic of Olive Wood, here are some pics from my last trip which was to Athens, Greece. It was my first time there and I had 25hrs to explore, so I hit the ground running and took in as much as I could of the sights, sounds, and incredible food. Wrapping up my time at the Acropolis with a walk through a forrest of Olive trees was pretty much perfect. And shoutout to FBC, gotta rep around the world!

This was my first project back in the shop toward the end of training on my new fleet type. This also represents my first INTERNATIONAL client. The owner of an art gallery in Spain reached out to see if I could help with repairing this one of a kind sculpture made of Olive Wood that sold to a client in Calgary, and was damaged on its way to Canada. After some brief consultation, I picked it up from the customer, repaired and refinished it in my shop and returned it as good as new. This was my first time working with Olive, and it is a gorgeous wood with lots of character.
I was happy to work on such a gorgeous piece, help my new client in Spain, and ensure his customer in Calgary was happy as well! Great first project back in the shop!

This solid Ash frame is built to last, and handmade with love. Custom dimensions and design make it one-of-a-kind and special.

Meet ‘The Lucy’ - solid Ash twin bed frame

Those pieces I highlighted a week ago have been transformed into this beautiful solid wood bed frame. Every detail and measurement has been customized to fit the vision and decor of the home this will be delivered to in the coming days, and this will make the transition from crib to big person bed and exciting one.

This frame sits higher than a toddler frame, but slightly lower than a full sized twin frame; striking a balance and getting the best of both worlds. An easy and safe transition, with room to grow.

I love the bright, clean aesthetic that Ash offers while also offering economy and colour versatility for staining. All of this while being exceptionally strong and durable. I think it’s official, I’ve fallen in love with Ash as a staple material choice ❤️

My latest project has left the shop and arrived at its new home; a gorgeous new build home to my wonderful clients. This walnut beauty was built with 8/4 top grade walnut standing atop 2"x2" powder coated steel legs to give it a much more modern look and feel. This large table can very comfortably seat 8 people, and even accommodate up to 10 if the ends of the table are used as a place setting.
Lots of gorgeous character in these pieces, and is built to last. A big thank you to my latest clients, and welcome to your new home!

I founded Little Red Truck Woodwork with the desire to craft solid wood furniture of heirloom quality, in an effort to allow people to have a one-of-a-kind piece that is unique and build to last for generations. This, all while supporting local craftsmanship and sustainable business practices. I am proud of each piece that has left my shop and entered your home, and for the hundreds of trees that have been planted in reforestation projects as a result of your business.

I will continue to help you on that journey of leaving the disposable, built-in obsolescence behind, and filling your home with pieces to enjoy each and every day; to create stories around, and to pass on to the next generation. And by doing so, keeping that much more out of the landfills, and helping our planet.

This set of two custom premium Ash benches were delivered this week, and I’m so happy how they turned out.

The design is one of a kind that my client and I collaborated on for a special space in a new build home.

Ash is a great choice for a lighter look, or for staining to get the exact colour you’re looking for. It’s a strong and dense hardwood, and offers beauty and savings from the higher price points of other hardwoods like Walnut, White Oak, and Maple. A really versatile option.

Even when I close up shop for a day and head to the mountains with my man-cubs, I’m admiring the beauty of wood.

My trusty steed shown here is nearly 20 years old now, and the timeless beauty of that gorgeous Hawaiian Koa wood NEVER gets old. When it comes time for this old friend to be retired, it’ll be lovingly showcased on my wall somewhere. It’s a work of art.

A goooood cuppa coffee is how I start my day, every day, and what better way than with my personalized YETI. I'm a huge fan of practically anything and everything YETI makes, and this Rambler mug is no exception.

I really wanted to find a local small business that prizes customer service, quality work, and a personal touch to do the laser engraving, and I was able to find that and more with etchedyyc. Environmental sustainability is at the very core of my business, and a big reason why I started Little Red Truck Woodwork. I am always scrutinizing every aspect of my operation to find opportunities for further environmentally sustainable and conservative practices.

With that in mind, I found a way to further reduce my environmental footprint by transitioning to a contactless and paperless business card! With this card I can quickly and conveniently pass along all of my contact information that you would normally find on a business card, and so much more. No longer will you need to hold onto a paper card, remember where it is, or remember to load the information into your phone, its all right there with one tap.
