This beauty just got a full refresh and I am obsessed with how it turned out.

One of my favourite details?
The removable cushion and the chair’s backrest are perfectly pattern-matched — the lines flow seamlessly from one piece to the next. This is the kind of craftsmanship you can expect from Kavanaugh Upholstery!

Ever wondered why some cushions look tired and saggy after just a few months?

Left: Compressed Polyester — a filler often mistaken for foam. It’s essentially layers of polyester batting pressed together, and while it may look similar at first glance, it quickly compresses and loses its shape. The result? Flattened cushions and loose, wrinkled fabric.

Right: Kavanaugh Upholstery — 4” high-density foam, wrapped in two layers of 1.25” Terylene Batting for added softness and comfort. It creates a solid foundation that offers lasting support and keeps your upholstery looking crisp for years.

A pretty fabric won’t hide a weak foundation- just like a coat of paint won’t fix a crooked house.

🪑 Chair Repair Magic! 🪑

Not all upholstery problems are about the fabric — sometimes the foundation is what needs attention.

Signs to watch for:
✔️ Loose/ Saggy Fabric
✔️ “Sinking” Foam
✔️ Loose webbing that has lost its elasticity

For this chair, we gently removed the original fabric/piping from the seat, reinforced the foundation, and replaced the worn webbing. Then carefully restored the original fabric and piping — no full reupholstery needed.

The result? A beautifully plump, supportive seat — the perfect “Crown” of comfort restored!

Sometimes all it takes is the right fabric to completely transform a piece.

These dining chairs were in great shape — they just needed a fresh look. The original fabric felt dated and pulled an orangey tone from the wood frame - but reupholstering gave them an entirely new personality! Now the wood looks more modern and refreshed next to this bold, elegant design. 💙

It’s really amazing what the right fabric can do!

Quality Fabrics Deserve Quality Care

Protection matters just as much as style. That’s why I choose pre-treated fabrics with the Endurepel Shield by Ennis Fabrics — a PFAS-free, eco-conscious finish that repels stains, moisture, and odours. This built-in protection keeps your upholstery looking beautiful and easy to clean for years to come.

Here are a few extra tips to help your pieces stay in perfect shape:

1️⃣ Act fast on spills.
Even with Endurepel protection, blot (don’t rub!) spills right away to prevent them from setting.

2️⃣ Keep it clean.
Vacuum regularly with a soft brush and rotate cushions to prevent uneven wear.

3️⃣ Protect from sunlight.
UV rays can fade fabric over time — try to limit direct sun exposure when possible.

4️⃣ Handle with care.
Avoid sharp objects, pet claws, and body oils that can break down fabric fibers.

Upholstery is so much more than just putting on new fabric.

We always begin with a consultation, to understand our clients lifestyle and what they would like to achieve with their furniture. From there, each piece is carefully disassembled so the frame, foundation, and foam can be fully assessed and restored if needed.

Then comes the magic ( aka blood, sweat & tears) — cutting, sewing, and shaping the new fabric to fit like a glove. Once upholstered to the frame, the finishing touches like piping, tufting, or buttons really bring the piece to life.

Every detail matters, and every project is handled with care, precision, and pride.

Custom Design, Custom Fit!

These bench seat cushions were built completely from scratch — designed to fit perfectly and elevate the space. We added a little visual interest by using a contrasting piping in a different texture, and it turned out so good!

It’s the small design choices that make the biggest impact.
