Jacques and Hay furniture Company started their furniture making business in Toronto in 1835. The firm became Robert Hay & Co. in 1870. The dresser has the original makers mark, Jacques and Hay
"we aim for perfection", on the inside of the drawer which places this dresser from 1870 or earlier as when the firm became Robert Hay & Co they used a different makers mark. Constructed with beautiful dark walnut, tongue and groove drawers, original handles, original drawers and bottoms with the original finish inside the drawers.
Restored to the original finish with hand rubbed Danish oil. The drawers run smoothly. This beautiful dresser has one smaller drawer followed by two deeper drawers atop a large deep bottom drawer.
This style is a rare find. The dresser has estimates between $1500-$3500. It is at least 156 yrs old and will last another 100 plus years. Quality made.
