“Atelier Piraat is increasingly focused on concealing technical elements, allowing the kitchen to appear almost detached from its functionality.
Van Snick explains: “The search for greater visual calm is, of course, not straightforward. In one stainless steel kitchen, for example, we integrated a network of ventilation ducts to completely conceal the extractor hood. The only visible technical element is a small ventilation grille just above the floor. We apply the same approach when hiding ovens or refrigerators behind cabinet fronts: at the bottom, we provide openings for air intake and extraction. The simpler it needs to look visually, the more complex it becomes behind the scenes.
We also opted for discreet recessed handles, allowing the stainless steel cabinetry to remain as streamlined as possible. The only element that stands out is the blue tap.””
